Hmm, I wonder whether his 1 season stay at Inter is testament to that?

Well tbh I don't think spurs are a small club not massive but they ain't bad they could be right up here with us this year if there owners didn't sell all there best players.

But maybe there is some truth in it but maybe its just because he never played in top team at a young enuff age to make the difference ?

I know he had 7 months at inter but really that isn't a massive chance and italian football isn't a true marker to how good a stiker is look at henry ?

Confidence is important yes but the team coming first is more important.  Benitez could have handled Keane better but Keane should have delivered more from the start of the season.  Is he good enough to remain and make an impact then yes.

And I have no time for Rick Parry but I really dont think he forced the Keane signing.  And to be honest if it was Barry and Keane and lose Alonso I am happier with Alonso staying and just getting Keane

cool what part of cardiff you live taff ? I am in roath ?

About keane yeah keep playing him and just have to hope he comes good i for one didn't think he had bad game vrs everton not good just not bad.

He put alot of good runs that might not have looked good but they did make space for others he is a smart player and opens gaps in defences even when he don't have the ball.

I think he be happyer if he just knew he was gonna play week in week out.

What you gotta remember is he has come from a club where he was the number one player and always in lineup , now he is 2nd fiddle to torres and that gives him more pressure but also his ego has taken a knock as well which can be hard for a striker.

slightly off topic, but I lived in roath for 6 years.

I don’t know if he has been mentioned but Henrik Larsson wouldn’t be a bad option at all. The Swedish season finished in November I think and it doesn’t restart until March. We might be able to negotiate a deal with Helsingborgs to have him on loan until May.

He would be a great backup to Torres and is a proven goal scorer at all levels. Also, he is supposed to be a top pro and keeps himself fit in between seasons by playing other sports.

I think Rafa should go for a target man next, someone who can hold the ball up and still score for us like Crouchy did. Maybe that Mario Balotelli from Inter. Someone like Crouch, Drogba, Adebayor basically...
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Tried to find an "official" Robbie Keane thread, one like "Robbie Keane, I know it's early but................." I did a search and five of the last ten threads with Keane in the title have been closed!

Anyway, I read today that Bruce at Sunderland wants to pay £FIFTEEN MILLION for him! Makes you wonder where he was last season, assuming the rumour is remotely founded and the fee remotely accurate.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport....1436577

Sunderland are planning a shock £15million bid to tempt Robbie Keane to leave Spurs for the second time in a year.

The North East club already have Darren Bent on their wish-list and negotiations on a £10m deal are well advanced.

But Sunderland are also ready to test Tottenham with a stunning move for the much-travelled Keane who only returned to Tottenham on the last deadline day in a £12m deal after a disastrous six months at Liverpool.

But with Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp preparing a major overhaul of his squad, the Black Cats believe they may be able to prize the nomadic Keane away.

Keane, 28, is close to Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn after the pair played together for the Republic of Ireland. The striker left White Hart Lane for Anfield for £20.3m last July but struggled to win over manager Rafa Benitez and was shipped back to Spurs in January.

The Black Cats would be his seventh club with Sunderland’s wealthy  owner Ellis Short giving new boss Steve Bruce big money to spend on players this summer.

Keane is a huge favourite among the Tottenham faithful and Redknapp also made him club captain after his return to the club six months ago.

England striker Bent, 25, who joined Spurs for £16.5m two years ago, will be allowed to leave and Sunderland are in pole position to get their man.

Russian centre-forward Roman Pavlyuchenko is another big signing who Spurs will sell despite only arriving last summer for £12m.

The sales will help raise cash for Redknapp who has a long list of striker targets to strengthen his squad.

Tottenham tried to sign Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones in January but had a £10m bid knocked back. But now the boot is on the other foot and the Wearside club’s new-found wealth is likely to make them one of this summer’s big spenders.

Sunderland have the wealth and ambition to try and keep Jones happy and they are setting their own sights high.

Tottenham, meanwhile, must sell before they can buy this summer as chairman Daniel Levy wants to balance the books.

They are keen on Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz and Real Madrid strikers Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

But Dutch veteran van Nistelrooy, 32, has still to prove his fitness after knee surgery and that deal is unlikely to happen.

It means Tottenham will have to spend big to bring in a new striker and that means another clear-out.

David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas, Gareth Bale, Heurelho Gomes and Didier Zokora could all go in a mass exodus to give Redknapp fresh funds for his rebuilding plans.

So to make a little bit of discussion, would you offer £15m for Keane (29 next month) or for Bent (turned 25 in February) ? If they are going for Bent for £10m then why bother with Keane? (unless it is buy one, get one half price otherwise Bruce would be paying £30m for Keane................) Maybe Bruce has some kind of memory problem or something, thinks Keane is ROY Keane and/or £s are Turkish Lira or something.

Of course it's probably best to disregard Keane's spell at Anfield as being "one of those things", didn't work out and a mistake on the part of the signing club as much as the player not being good enough. I mean Keane in my eyes is still no more or less capable of playing for Liverpool than Cisse, Baros, Morientes, Crouch, Bellamy, Luis Garcia and maybe a few others that played for us were - main difference is only Cisse and Keane cost more than £7m.

I was just wondering how much Keane has cost in combined fees through his career, and how they compare to Anelka.

ROBBIE KEANE

Coventry City £6m
Inter Milan £13m
Leeds Utd £12m
Tottenham £7m
Liverpool £19m
Tottenham £12m

According to wikipedia that makes his cumulative fees £75m, even if you take the spudz figure rising to £19m that doesn't add up to £75m?!?!? It'll do as a "ballpark" figure though

NICOLAS ANELKA

Arsenal £500k
Real Madrid £22.3m
PSG £20m
Man City £13m
Fenerbahce £7m
Bolton £8m
Chelsea £15m

That adds up to £85.8m, so Keane and Anelka have both moved for £75m+ in their careers, believe it or not Anelka is the older of the two (and in my view by far the better of the two) I think we made a mistake not signing Anelka, although you do wonder how much the fee would have been if it's true PSG paid £20m which doesn't seem out of place given Citeh paid £13m.
