Steven Gerrard's comments before games and after games are what upset me because he says that we need to play well,etc... however he can not play well himself.

He's been in a slump of a form and every footballer goes through it but thats not why I personally am angry at him, its his attitude on the pitch in rescent games and comments that make me tick.

AB you are entitled to your opinion, but i dont agree, and thats my opinion

SG always tries to do his job well, and his comments i reckon are meant to inspire his team mates, but alot on here are thinking negatively. look beyond the surface and try to understand the depth of what he is trying to say, then you'll understand

I don't like critisizing our players but his comments before the game against Olympiakos put a lot of pressure on himself, his team-mates and the club.

He says he wants to play in cup finals and he got his chance yesterday and after we scored he was quiet for the rest of the game. But that's not why I am upset as a fan, it's the fact that it seems like he doesn't care on the pitch in rescent games.

When we played Fulham at home his reaction when Garcia gave the ball away was shocking, instead of standing there looking at Garcia he should had tracked back. As a captain he should at least try to give his all in every game like Carra.

I don't know whats happened to him because ever since our game against Man Utd at home he's been playing below his standards, below the standards of a Liverpool player and captain.

Maybe he has read some of the comments and other rubbish from d!ck head "fans" like yourself following some below par games, and thought why should I bother to put my body on th line for those tw@ts.

Great theory Leon. I'd like to hear your theory on his comments. I'm sure you have an explanation for everything including your constant mood swings.

Lets deal in facts:

Stevie G can at times be misguided by people, like his agent, his England collegues etc...

Stevie G will sometimes, as a young man, lack the tact of many more experinced older footballers.

Stevie G is not out to rip off Liverpool fans or hell bent on destroying the club.

Stevie G did not score an own goal on purpose just so they sign him next year.

What is your problem AB, you clearly hav no clue.

If your girlfriend was considering leaving you, would you slag her off and give her loads in an attempt to make her stay?

No then why do it to someone/thing you profess to loving as intently.

Fair enough.

Stevie G will sometimes, as a young man, lack the tact of many more experinced older footballers

He's no Roy Keane but it wouldn't hurt if he attempted to do something on the pitch[I am talking about his rescent performances such as the one against Man Utd, Southampton,Birmingham,Charlton,Fulham]

JC is not a world class defender but his great effort, determination and the fact that he gives his all in every game makes up for some of his shortcommings as a defender.

Stevie G is not out to rip off Liverpool fans or hell bent on destroying the club.

I didn't say that, don't put words in my mouth.

Stevie G did not score an own goal on purpose just so they sign him next year.

I didn't say that either but his performance was p1ss poor. Had he tried more in  yesterdays game I wouldn't be upset about the own goal, in fact it's not the own goal that has upset me but the pre-match comments about the game and then his performance against Chelsea. That plus him being too friendly with Chelski scum when we played them at Anfield, even after Alonso broke his ankle he was patting them on the back.

What your problem is that you are trying to come up with execuses for Gerrard's poor performance and poor comments, if Garcia,Biscan, and every other player can get critisized after poor performances then so can Gerrard. He's no exception especially since he is the captain.

Listen mate I am with you, and I am also of the thinking that no one player is bigger than LFC, however if you simply want to criticise his performance, do it constructively in the thread about the match, DO NOT start another thread and try to make out like he was in some way trying to ensure that Chelsea won the game.

Argh you are missing what I am trying to say. If Gerrard was to head the ball again from the same spot he wouldn't had scored he didn't do it on purpose however his performance did not make up for his mistake in any way shape or form.

By starting a thread simply to infer that Stevie was the deciding factor in the game, and he moved the balance to Chelski is stupid idiotic and quite frankly a little naive.

I agree with Leon 100%, everyone needs to get the f*ck off SG's back. I am astonished that anyone can treat him like this and like Leon said, if he comes across comments like this its only going to for his decision to leave. I am totaly devasted at the fact he may not be here next year - especially when you think about him linking up with Alonso:(  People always question his loyalty which is shocking, but did any of you see the guys face yesterday after the match? He WAS fighting back the tears and emotiond, i actually think i saw some tears. Its terrible that you all react the way you do with him. He DONT deserve it.

He may not have been on his top form in recent games i think this will make him strounger as a palyer and a person beacuse he wants to lift a trophy for liverpool. We can't all get on his back beacuse without him we would not be the same team, however he has not been at his beast butwe all have to get behind him and back him but he also does need to keep his comments in cheack beacuse it will land him in trouble.

Also did u see his face after the game he was devastated he was in tears, he knows as well as anyone he could have played better. But the devastation on his face showed he is 100% commited and determinded he is just a tiny bit off form i would not be surprised if he has a stormer against newcastle
