Is he our $20m man?

FORMER Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier is poised to jump back into management as Socceroos coach, according to a report in London today.

Houllier ... tipped to replace Farina /AP

The Sun reports Houllier has had talks over a proposed four-year contract worth $20.7 million.

The Frenchman, the paper claims, has met with Aussie chief executive John O’Neil and chairman Frank Lowe.

Millionaire Lowe is the man who has put the financial package together to entice Houllier back into the game.

The report says Lowe and O'Neill are not happy with Frank Farina.

And they believe Houllier is the man who could guide them to the World Cup Finals in Germany in 2006.

Sorry my computer stuffed up while writing that.. I know most of you would have never heard of our current coach Frank Farina.. but he has done bloody well with our team. He has only lost two match in 18 months (both to turkey).. and lets not forget our win over the english :D But we currently play a attacking brand of soccer.. under houlier we would be stuffed!!!! defending all the time!!! Kewell must be about to slit his wrists... GH PART TWO!

After the job Houllier did with Liverpool he doesn't deserve to coach ever again!  The man to guide us to Germany 2006?  Phta!  Don't make me laugh under him we'd probably lose the play-off to the Solomon Islands!  And at a salary of $5million a year?  This is the biggest load of tripe I've ever heard!  Why on Earth would the ASA want to get rid of Farina?  In 2001 He guided us to the final of the confederations cup (where we unfortunately lost to Brazil), he masterminded our only ever victory over England, and in england no less.  He turned us into a good enough side to prompt the France coach in 2000 to say that Australia were a side who deserved to be consistent World Cup semifinalists!

Why would the ASA ever get rid of Farina for Houllier?  Farina has never complained about his lack of resources.  He's never critisisced the ASA even over the Mark Viduka situation in February.  He has turned Australia into a side with belief and confidence in its abilities even though it rarely plays together.

I would never support Australian soccer again if Houllier ever took charge from Frank Farina.

LFC, the more I reflect on Houlliers reign the more I'm convinced he never deserved to coach Liverpool.  The treble in 2001 was one thing but do you think he could've ever done it again?  I think he just got lucky, while you need a bit of luck in football do you think he's going to do anything like that again?  And besides don't forget, you're only as good as your last season.

very well, I'll agree to a comprimise (sp?) of sorts there.
GH was a good manager but he shouldn't become coach of the Soceroos, can we agree to that?

its goin over the top slaggin houllier that much.
houllier can install solid foundations to any club, i really belive that. if a club ever loses its way, he could get them back on track, its just he cant take them that final mile. i reckon he'd do a boss job as "aussie-ball" manager, but farina has dun nothin wrong yet, so doesnt deserve to go.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

Then don't post in this topic.  I don't give a flying ****** about the england national team or beckham or scholes and i never cared about steven mc******ingmannam but I don't go around broadcasting it at every opportunity.

******.
