Get a grip please people - Doom gloom and more gloom

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I simply cant beleive the rubbish some of you people have posted on here today.

Last night, we simply needed to ensure qualification for the group stages of the Champions League.

We did not need to beat the opposition by ten clear goals.

We did not have to put on a "virtuoso performance for the television cameras".

We did not have to "send out a warning to the rest of Europe".

No people, the main, in fact the only objective of the second round game last night was to secure a place in the draw on Thursday for the Champions league proper. Job Done.

I have been amazed, or should I say appauled by the number of people who claim to have "seen how bad Diao was on ITV2", or "watched on telly as Gerrard had a nightmare".

How can you possibly see what is going on during a game on TV ?

I was at the game, and I was impressed by the work rate of the Austrians, who played very well. They pressed us all over the park, defended deeper than Richard Bransons pockets and managed to secure a result with a goal that many supporters at the ground applauded with the respect it deserved.

Dont come on here after one lack lusture display with all the "we are not good enough", and the "fourth place is our best hope" rubbish. You people seem to throw the towel in after every negative result.

All members of this forum are "supporters" of Liverpool Football Club. So why not try supporting them, and not slating them when one result goes against us.

Get A Grip.

Very much agree with you Leon though we didnt play particularly well which you probably agree with we did what we needed to do!
I think far too much is expected from this new era far too soon!
Yes we all want to see fast attractive football now and plenty of goals it is not something that can happen straight away!
I thought that our passing game is getting better but players are going to take a while yo adapt to the new systems that Rafa wants to implement!
My biggest concearns are Dudek and Kewell they both seem low on confidence still hopefully this will dissapear as new players come in and the football becomes more cohesive

Good post Leon. I can remember the start of Houllier's reign and he got off to a edgy start and you had the doom merchants then asking why he was appointed etc but they were the ones who were shouting the loudest after the treble win. It going to be the same with Rafa i reckon. You will get these people questioning now if he was the right appointment but these are the people who will be saying "i knew he was a great manager from the start" if he is succesful!

We all know that the team Benitez inherited has got major limitations, it will take a long time for old habits to die and attitudes and tactics to change- last night Cisse was the only new signing on the pitch and none of Benitez's signings were there so we dont need to panic we know theres a lot of work to do but we've got the right man for the job and i'm sure we will see improvement. Last season we were consistently a long way short of where LFC fans want to be so I'm sure that wont be the only poor performance we see this season.

Funny how Leon and Stu agree that this place is full of "no-nothings" when the thread is full of responses from people who agree with them!

I am very disapointed in some of the Liverpool fans. Norwich City fans have more faith in their club than we do at the moment. We play one game poorely and 75% of you state that we can not come in the top 3 of the Premiership. But if we won last night, the ones who lost faith would had been saying that we would be #1 this season, bunch of hypocrites.

You either stick with one thing or you don't. Get a ******-i-n-g grip on your selves. Losing one game does not mean the end of the world.

a)we qualified, we beat Gratz in the first leg showing that we were better than them. last nights performance was just lack of concentration and possession of the ball
b)we did not lose a game in the Premiership, so we didn't lose any points that would had affected us later on.
c)we have great talent at our squad: Josemi,Alonso,Garcia,Nunez,Gerrard,Baros,Cisse,Hyypia,Carragher,Riise.
d)too much critisizing of the players, everyone seems to make a villian out of a player after every game even if we perform very well. Dudek made mistakes, yes and your point is what exactly? Every goalkeeper in the Premiership has made mistakes that let to a goal, the only reason their squad won at the end was because of their offence. ex: Arsenal

Basicaly, I agree with Leon. I will never lose faith in Liverpool, no matter what the circumstance is.

LFC has gone through tough times before, never once did I doubt the squad in any way. Rafa has reborn LFC in a way. Only good things can happen from here on. There was doubts about good signings, look what happened. Josemi,Alonso,Garcia,Nunez and Cisse. 5 great signings which didn't cost a lot of money, players who are not spoiled and cocky like Chelseas.

If the players and Rafa believe that they can do great this season it will happen, if there is any doubt in their minds there will be no light for LFC this year but otherwise we have a lot of great things to look forward to.
