Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Lets just hope that he has some respect for the club and the fans who still love him, enough to move abroad and not join a premiership club.

the statement on skysports says it all really - 'the last six weeks have been the toughest of my life' - basically means its not been about the last seven days but he knew all along that he didnt' want to stay. all that ' how can i leave after a night like this' guff - either the agent had it all planned or he has been tapped up for a while...

Steven Gerrard the greedy scouse tw#at has released a statement to Sky Sports News explaining why he wants to leave Liverpool.

The England midfielder admits the decision to quit his boyhood idols has been a gut-wrenching one and that his initial thought after the UEFA Champions League victory was to remain at Anfield.

However, he has changed his mind, as he is a money grabbing fookwit with an over inflated sense of his own importance.

"The last six weeks have been the toughest of my life," he informed Sky Sports News from his luxury mansion house in Formby. "The decision my agent has come to has been the hardest decision I have ever had to make.

"I fully intended to sign a new contract after the Champions League final but the events of the past five or six weeks have changed all that as I have realised I can earn far more by dispensing with loyalty and following the money.

"I have too much respect for the club and the people at it to get involved in a slanging match. But not enough respect to show some loyalty to a club that has turned me from a grubby street urchin from a council estate in Huyton, to a world famous brand name, richer than Croesus "

Gerrard inspired Liverpool's remarkable second half comeback against Milan in Istanbul and has been a key figure for Rafa Benitez's side. In future he will be warming the bench for Real’s tired Galacticos as they languish in Mid table La Liga obscurity.

25 years old, one of the best midfielders around.

Bidding starts at 40 million pounds.

Disclaimer : We Liverpool football club cannot be held responsible if said player does the following ...

-The tarnishing of the club's image by making up :censored: stories of him being forced out of the club.
-Making stupid ultimatums before crucial Champions League games.
-Dismissing the clubs chances or winning the Champions League and thus destroying moral
-Disruption of the dressing room and moral due to constant media circus surrounding him.
-Questioning the club and managers ambition dispite winning the Champions League.
-Makes no effort to dismiss media speculation other than to only give half :censored:.ed answers like "We'll see" instead of "No I'm not leaving"
-Being a sh.itty captain.

We're also not responsible for renovation costs due to said players' fu.cking head might be too big to fit through new clubs' doors.

Lyndsey now you are seeing things more clearly.Granted the lad is a great player, but its not the end of the world.

Absolutely right. I still think it's the agents giving him the "your too good for this...blah blah blah". I would happily stab them all with a rusty butter knife. I can't believe he's lied to us like he has. As soon as he moves to Sh*tski or Real, there'll be an exclusive in the Sun saying "Rafa wanted me out" and "the clubs going nowhere" - SG. HE'S NOTHING BUT A MERCENARY. I AM GUTTED. STEVEN YOU B*STARD. :sniffle :veryangry

Accept no less that £45m. Show the sh*tbags he ain't coming cheap.

Why do I get the feeling that he called Liverpool's bluff....and lost...he felt the club wanted him out and probably expected them to accept the offer from Chelsea...once they rejected it he was in a position where he had to put up or shut up.

As he wanted to go the only option for him was then to say so...because he knew that the club wouldn't sell him unless he then said he wanted to go.....

Looks like the club have wised up since the Michael Owen debacle.....I don't think it will go beyond £35m as there are only two clubs likely to be interested.

It's going to be a busy few weeks as I'm sure Rafa's preferred targets will be alerted to this...watch their price jump over the next few days...

Oh the merry go round has begun...I'd love to be a fly on the wall.

Personally I'm sorry to see him go....however it shows his true intentions...he's won every club honour bar the league...he's just won the CL and I honestly believe that that achievement makes him look far worse now....he's can't hide from the fact that it's money talking. Pity.

Another positive from this will be motivation factor for every other player who secretly would be well in their rights to be a little cheesed off with all the headlines Stevie G got regardless of how well he truly played.
Now is the time to show what they can do with out Liverpool tailsman and prove that Liverpool arent a one man team
