The fact that Stevie remains in custody 15 hours after arrest could be worrying...

From what I have read he and others have been arrested for Sect 20 Assault - the more serious of the two GBH charges where the suspect "intended" to cause GBH. Normally this is deliberate wounding, which in this situation may well be glassing/bottling. The chaps injuries as reported would support this as he had facial injuries.

However If Stevie was in the club at that time I would assume he was a bit bladdered, and therefore cannot be spoken to by the police until after he has rested and is fully sober. That may well have meant he was not fit to be interviewed until after midday, and in any case the police would have to get statements from the victim and any other key witnesses. There are several in custody so it may well be Stevie was on the periphery and not involved too heavily.. lets hope so. He is our captain and an ambassador and it is a big mistake for him to have become involved in anything.

I wonder if any other players are in there but the story has not yet got out? In any case there will be blokes in there from both sides being questioned and they wont release anyone until they have spoken to them all.

I would say that as he has been in there all day he has probably done something wrong, and it may be that police are waitig for the CPS to make a decision as to what to do. If he has committed GBH (which i think unlikely) he may be refused bail which would be catastrophic for us. If there is insufficient evidence he could be bailed pending further enquiries or simply released without charge. I hope its the latter.

In any case i am sure the club has supplied the best brief money can buy so he will be well looked after.

Hope this helps.. I do speak from experience.

sounds reasonable to me. I'm hoping one of his mates was the one hitting the bloke and not him. I mean, not ALL 5 of them have commited the assult, but they have ALL been arrested until the police find out whats happened and who's to blame.

In his defence, Gerrard (and all footballers) must get stick on a daily basis from all sorts of :censored:
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

Imagine if it would have been Skrtel in that bar...

On a serious note, I hope that 7_Kewell is right and that it was one of his mates.

Exactly.

It would also help if certain members were not in the habit of quoting these s.hitehawks - nothing they have to say is worth preserving for posterity, other than a glance at their IP log.

Some good points there mate.

Radio 5 are saying that they are still there and they had some guy on the phone saying that there was other players in the Bar but the did not say there were with him or if they were even Liverpool players.

If it is GBH and not ABH and he is charged with this then its very bad news, as you said the fact that he has been there for so long now points to him doing something wrong, CCTV was taken from the bar at 10am and i am sure if there was anything on there to clear him he would have been home by now.

If he has done something wrong then yes he should be charged and the club should make him step down and Capt, so many kids look up to him and if he is in the wrong then young kids should know that he has done wrong and can see what happens when you do something wrong.

all that said lets hope he is let go with no charges, but that looks like its not going to happen now.

If that is the case I am expecting him to be charged with something. You dont spend that long in a cell for nothing. If it were clear he was innocent of any wrongdoing he would be kicked out as soon as possible.
