he was the highest profile guy there, so my guess is that accuser would need compensation, and realised quickly that he'd get more from stevie g, than the other two paupers he was with!

by my reckoning, the other two probably did the fisty cuffs, and gerrard got involved to stop it. but as we all know, that would look like, from an untrained eye, that gerrard was the provoker and attacker.

LIVERPOOL today pledged to give Steven Gerrard “all the support he needs” after the Reds skipper was charged with assault and affray.

Gerrard will appear in court next month alongside two other men in connection with an alleged brawl in a Southport bar in the early hours of Monday morning.

in a lot of ways i agree with stu that gerrard is no angel in the past and has done so bad things on the pitch but off the pitch he has always shyed away from the limelight . Its hard to judge cause no one knows the full story . If gerrard has fecked up he deserves what he gets , we cant show bias just cause he is steven gerrard . All this wanting the other person smacked etc makes us just as bad . Players have to be whiter than white and gerrard knows that . Hopefully he is just guilty of being stupid by getting involved and being in the wrong place at the wrong time . But lets wait till we see the whole story before judging anyone .
