We know for certain that someone was taken to hospital for facial injuries. We also know that Stevie and others were arrested on suspicion of GBH.

Facial injuries and GBH = Glassing/Bottling in my experience.

Not saying that is what happened, but on the basis of what we know to me it seems likely.

Why could there not have been a scuffle, someone shoved a mouthing chav who was pi$$ed and fell, banged his face.?
Oh no always think the worst case scenario!

Gerrard glassed him..in fact it was for nothing, hes going down!

Some right fuc'king belters in this thread.Cant even give the team captain the benefit of the doubt..pathetic!

As soon as a footballer is in the vicinity,a fight kicks off, kunts are seeing £ signs, selling stories and compo!

I agree.

For all we know a manc could have glassed himself in the face then blamed it on gerrard  :D

Arrested on suspicion.

The OB do put a charge on that in a lot of cases gets downgraded as evidence is collated so it protects them if it gets to court rather than having to make the charge more serious as time goes on.

Ok my gut instinct is facial injuries is a few slaps as the journos would have got info from a hospital, I doubt they would have got info from the police although they have been known to leak things before now.  There is also a high profile footballer involved and the police have to tread carefully between treating him the same and using his fame or victimising or treating him preferrentially.

The fact that we have heard no more about it IMO is a good thing as its SG involved and a few people could make a few quid out of this if they were ther last night.

I hope you are right, I really do.

But be honest  - in this day and age it is far more likley that someone has got glassed than fallen over and banged their head.

And if he had dozens of witnesses would have said so and no one would have got nicked.

In this country you are innocent until proven guilty. As far as I am concerned Stevie has done nothing wrong until proven otherwise.

He's a 28 year old who is captain for one of the biggest clubs in the world so he should act more responsible. Everybody is entitled to a drink and the media shouldn't make a huge deal if a player does go out. However, hanging around in a pub at 2:30 in the morning and getting involved in a fight isn't exactly ideal. The fact that he's still in police custody is worrying and he only has himself to blame.

So youve never gone on the ale with your mates then. The lad didnt go out looking for trouble it happened he was there . It happens sometimes. It could of been the pope having a bevvie in the same place an if something kicks off he would of been nicked an all.  Why shouldnt he be out at 2-30 the lad most prob had a day off today

Well I was hoping he was caught up in the fight rather than taking part in it but for him not to be released yet suggests otherwise which is very worrying.

I did say that anybody is entitled to go out drinking but the fact that he was up at that time and was involved in a inident doesn't really look good on paper and the media will be having a field day with this. There's nothing wrong with what you said as I agree with you that football players have as much right to go out as anybody else. But because of the celebrity-obsessed society we live in they have to be extra cautious and this time he was unfortunatly caught out.

It would have probably been a good idea not to be out so long regardless of the fact he was having a day off but then again I have to admit its difficult to talk about the situation of we don't know the full details. From what we know he could have tried to prevent the whole thing from kicking off but the fact he's still in police custody seems to suggest he actually played a role.

I dont think he will go to prison if charged with GBH. If its a first offence and sect 20 instead of 18.

However we dont know he has done anything yet!
