They can only hold you for 24 hours, and have to charge or release you. but those police cells can get real cold. esp today. They just give you an old orange blanket that a drunk from the night before has been sick on, and no bog roll. Plus he will be well versed by now in police cell graffiti, "SInny from Tuebrook" and "Daz woz ere 08 24/7" on the walls.. So I have heard! Stevie will be freezing his nuts off!

Not quite true.. With a Superintendants authority they can hold you for 48 hours.. then after that a magistrate can authorise longer.

I do not know what happened, but in my experience (I work in the legal profession) this looks reasonably bad for him. He has been in too long for it to be trivial. I cant say what is happening but can make an educated guess. I only hope i am wrong.

Also he will have the best brief, who would get him bail/release as soon as possible.

Doesn't it have to be an indictable offence to detain him for 48 hours, of which a section 20 is not?

Yeah i guess so.. But GBH is indictable and ABH either way so I guess they have enough.

I think it unlikely though.

Maybe so but section 20 requires a lack of intention so I would say it's wrong for it to be treated THAT seriously to warrant another 24 hours at the old bill

To be detained for 48 hours would have to be a very serious offence.

I know someone who was locked up for 20 hours before they got questioned!! Thats a police tactic to "Soften you up" for questioning. If Stevie was arrested say 2:30am, it may be 10pm tonight before he gets questioned! the cops know their powers and it wouldnt suprise me if he has just been sat in a cell all day!

All depends how badly the dude is injured, if Stevie weilded the glass then He's in a loada Sh*t. If he didnt then one of his mates is in a loada Sh*t. Glassing someone in face is GBH with intent innit? Up to life in jail. ABH is 6-12 months inside.

You never know with cops, even if you are not directly involved you can get convicted of something.
