I (vaguely) remember a lost to Arsenal in the League Cup final where Ian Rush lost his "everytime Rush scored, Liverpool never lose" tag. Someone might be able to correct me or tell me the year...
As a Liverpool diehard, that tag was important, and when it was finally gone, it hurts!

1985 F.A. cup semi final defeat to United after we had gone 1-0 up.
1983 F.A. cup defeat to Brighton (and Jimmy Case).  It was Bob Paisley's last chance of winning it.
1996 F.A. cup final defeat to United.  The display was awful.  There was great talent in that side but had no desire.

good memory you`ve got there sean...
regarding the brighton match, i`m sure phil neal missed a pen (that we didn`t deserve) as well, which didnt make it any easier. in fact we lost a couple of times to brighton in the cup in the early eighties i seem to remember. i remember losing away at chelsea in the cup when they were in the old second division and a player called clive walker had a stormer against us.
back in those days it was always fa cup matches that seemed to be the sickeners.

i was on the kop for the brighton game, when neal was aking the penalty i said he was going to miss it, it was one of those days. it was at the kop end, if i remember right he hit the post

Rush lost his record in the '87 league cup final against Arsenal (we wore our white jerseys and black shorts).  Rush put us ahead after taking a pass from Spackman but Charlie Nicholas scored twice to win the cup for Arsenal.  I reckon Kenny Dalglish made a mistake by not putting himself in the first 11 (he came on as a sub).

It makes me laugh when I see Champagne Charlie being the "voice of Scottish football" on Sky.  He wasted his talent, became a male part time male model during his Arsenal days and completely under achieved and is now on the Sky Sports gravy train....I can't take the guys opinions seriously.

The '87 league cup final was played at a time when we were in transition.  In fact that defeat and Everton beating us to the title prompted Kenny Dalglish to splash out in the summer of '87 and create one of our best teams ever.

Most defeats leave me feeling sick,

But the one that hurt the most was Celtic winning 2-0 at anfield a few seasons back to put us out of europe.

What made it worse was that I was in Scotland at the time watching the game in a pub, and pretty much everyone was behind celtic apart from me and my mates.  Got a fair amount of abuse that night!!!

I've never accepted that.  In my world, we were double winners that year.  Now, don't talk to me ..... lalalalalalalalalalala ... not listening....
