Not sure whats going on here, only started reading on the last page, but how the f'ck is Cisse's name being dragged into this ?
The lads obviously didnt play well tonight, but i half expected it...especially when i seen the line up.
Rafa was dead right to rest key players and like Babbob said i was  bit surprised to see the likes of Bellamy and Agger playing in this game.
We worked so hard to make sure this game meant nothing so fair play to the boss for leaving the likes of Hyypia and Gerrard at home.
Anyone trying to compare Cisse with Bellamy after watching tonights game must be...as Stu the red used to say, fecking clueless.
Bellamy played really well today and with his clever runs and decent distribution he showed more talent in that one appearance than the frenchman did in his time here.

the result meant sod all! relax! Good God, some people on here should get a grip....It was nothing more than a training match and a way of resting players and having a look at some of the fringe players. Take a look at the positives, Robbie has shown he can still score goals, Nobody got injured and players like Stevie G got a rest. Bellamy is improving all the time and Agger continues to look impressive.
Now lets do a Benitez and concentrate on our next game

Bit harsh there A.B mate, Riise has provided decent stuff regularly, and you perfectly know it's difficult to give your best when 5-6 new players play suddenly together.

Bullsh!t. He gifted Ilic the goal and he has been poor for most of this season. He provides nothing when going forward, and he's shambles at defending.

However people often forget that because he scores good goals from time to time.

Him being poor has nothing to do with the youngsters playing tonight.

His Liverpool career has been inconsistant. One year he's decent the next he's :censored:. He was a weak link at the back last season when we had a good back four, and he's still a weak link now.

your dis-respect for riise is a disgrace!!! is this the only game you have watched so far this season, your comments aren"t even funny let alone realistic, jar has been one of our most consistant players in the last few seasons.all your comments on tonights game are way off the mark & are so negitive it makes my blood boil !!! support the team through thick & thin, that"s what makes us fans a cut above the rest. riise is a quality player, either at LB or LM he has enery, enthusiasm & there isn"t any other player for us imo at this moment in time who would do a better job than him at the moment end of !

Bad Bob wrote:Deeply disrespectful?  Get a grip!  The last thing we needed to do, having worked so fecking hard to sew up the group at home to PSV, was to turn up in Istanbul with a full-strength squad and invite a host of injuries.

It's a long-haul trip to Turkey at a time when we need to focus on the upcoming--and very congested--league fixture list that will go a long way to determining what kind of season we're gonna have from here on out.  Where's the sense in playing Gerrard or Kuyt or Sammi in this one, given that the Turks were likely to get stuck in at home?

Personally, I'm a bit annoyed that Rafa played so many regular first teamers.  What would we have done if Alonso had been injured?  Or Carra?  Or Agger?  Or Bellamy?  Or Riise (who is not sh!te, BTW)?  Fowler needs games and Pennant needs to find form quickly, so they needed to play.  Everyone else should have been reserve players.

So, to whinge about the message it sends about playing an under-strength side is just silly, IMO, and to get your knickers in a twist about losing what was the equivalent of a friendly is equally daft.  Usually I can take your posts with a grain of salt, mate, but the things you've posted in this thread take the p!ss.  :no

It's the best cup competition in the world, why play a weakened side? Let me put this to you, say we drew AEK Athens, Inter Milan and Barcelona. We beat AEK twice, beat Inter twice, drew with Barcelona at Anfield, we qualify, so would you say the Barcelona game at the Nou Camp is unimportant? Would you play Palletta and Peltier? After all we have qualified.

I didn't realise you had a crystal ball, how do you know we would of had injuries? Injuries are part of the parcel of football, its pointless wrapping players up in cotton wool. If they get an injury that's too bad, if we had spent our money wisely and bought quality instead of the likes of Zenden, Diao, Cheyrou, Diouf, Ferri etc then we wouldn't have to worry about injuries.

You focus on one match at a time, that's Rafa's philosophy. Yes we have a congested fixture list, you don't have to tell me, I'm well informed, but again players should be fit enough in this day and age to handle the harsh and congested fixture list. We have a squad large enough to cope.

Yes, let's play our reserves and get battered four, five, six goals to a couple from us. Yet you're telling me to get a grip? It's not a friendly though, Bob. It was a European night, how you can sit there and say well it was a pointless match is also silly IMO.

Comma, period, ever heard of that in school?

Disrespect for Riise? I respect him, but that doesn't mean that I have to have my nose in his :censored:. He's average. No this isn't the first performance, he's been poor all season. He's had one or two good performances, a couple of average performences but nothing fantastic, or worth mentioning about.

Three goals aside that he scored, he hasn't been playing well.

So I can't critisize the players when they play poorely?  ??? I support the team but when they play poor it should be said. Tonight they played poor [it was a meaningless game] however Pennant for instance should had used it as an opportunity to gain some confidence. Had an assist in the game but he needs to a bit more than that. For one he should learn how to take a corner.

Riise gifted them a goal and has been our weak-link for quite some time now. He isn't a left-back that a team would win a league with because he's too predictable and average.

This has nothing to do with supporting the team, I've watched them play at their worst and at their best.

We have near enough two players for every position. That to me is large enough.

GK: Reina, Dudek

RB: Finnan
CB: Agger,Carragher,Paletta,Hyypia
LB: Riise, Aurelio and Warnock are injured

LM: Gonzalez,injured,Kewell injured, Garcia
CM: Alonso,Gerrard, Zenden,Sissoko injured
RM: Pennant, Garcia

FW: Bellamy,Kuyt,Crouch,Fowler

Not exactly 2 players per position. We either have injury or lack quality in certain positions.

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says that they're disappointed to have lost 3-2 to Galatasaray in the Champions League, but feels it was still a great experience having already qualified.
"We're disappointed to lose because we wanted to win, but we'd already qualified as top of the group," said Carragher.

"We had a lot of young lads out there and it will have been a great experience for them. The Champions League is the top level and Galatasaray showed that they are good side - they also gave us a scare at Anfield."

And Carragher was quick to dismiss any thoughts that talk of an impending takeover had affected the players' ahead of the game. He said, "It hasn't affected the players, that's for the future. We were just thinking of winning this game."

It is, but at the present time some are injured, that doesn't mean we don't have near enough two players per position, quality wise did not enter my point. You're correct we lack quality in some areas, but that doesn't mean we do not have two players per position.

Very witty, Red. I have nothing more to say in this thread unless Bob decides to drop by and offer me his pearls of wisdom.
