You are correct sir. I would go as far as to say the goal did indeed make the seem like a better spectacle for all fans and viewers alike.

I made myself a nice cup of tea, nodded gently, and tipped my cap.

Have to say two thoughts crossed my mind in the first half while watching that game. My initial thought was that we did not play at the tempo we beat Villa and Madrid at home with. I was worrying that the possesion football we had was too slow and patient (if you like). The slower tempo we play is much more suited to United away and Madrid away. Or any other team that will have the imputas to 'get at you', with the likes of Wigan, Fulham, Hull, Stoke and West Brom teams that don't usually have the desire to attack us. The low tempo possession game is not as effective because you cannot pick teams off if they're not willing to be adventurous, therefore with 10 men behind the ball I think the ball needs to be moved a bit quicker and the movenment needs to be more deft.

As it stood though we still carved out wonderful opportunities which leads onto my second fear. It just looked as though it was not going to be one of those days, we hit the woodwork four times in the first half. It would of felt like a right kick in the teeth had we come away from Fulham without a win knowing how close we'd been to scoring.

The second half surfaced my original fear that the tempo was a little bit to slow and we were playing the patient game. This time though the chances were at a premium in comparison to the first half and I could see us paying for those missed chances.

the 83rd minute came and I could not bear to watch anymore I was getting that sinking feeling so I decided to fast forward the game (as I had downloaded it) to the 90th minute. I needed to be put out of my misery one way or the other, anyway I tried to fast forward it and the computer program could not fast foward the file to the 90th minute. It kept going back to th ebegining of the second half, by this time I rushed over to the computer to check the result and roared with delight when I saw the result. I was able to fast forward the game on the computer using windows media as before I had it on the plasma through the media center. Even when I saw the goal knowing the result I still cheered like I didnt know and could not believe it that for the eigth time this season we hit an injury time winner !

It must be said that there is real character in this Liverpool team to keep believing in themselves right up until the 92nd minute is not something we have always had. Those mugs down the other end of the M62 have always that belief about them and churned out last minute winners, now it seems we're doing the same which is all peachy but not to good on the old ticker.

I have been a little surprised at Benayouns omission from the previoius games as he headed the winner in Madrid and was playing pretty well in the side. Then puff, he disapears like many of Rafa's players for the next couple of games I don't know whether he was injured or what? But then he comes back on as a sub pops up with another vital goal which keeps the pressure on Man.U. Well in Yossi son !
I thought overall the boys played well and we're the better team throughout the 90mins 94mins, but they did have me worried when it looked as though we would not score that vital goal.

Lets hope Villa do not make it a nail biting victory. :;):

I think they're implying Gerrard dives.

The level of intelligence on display for the couple of pages I flicked through is minimal, is two or three words each all they can muster? One "had to leave his living room", I assume that's as close to going to old trafford as he gets.

If that's a "leading" manc forum as is suggested at the top, they must be struggling for fans with brain cells. Maybe the "intelligent" ones were getting ready to go to the game, checking suitcases, flight tickets, passports etc :D

wat an amazing season we are having so many twists, ups and downs, wish i was over there to be at the games and a part of it....

how do people rate this game with the nail biting injury time finish against those we were pure class against real madrid, manure and villa ?

the lads can be forgiven for being a little worn out from international duty but they grinded out the win in the end just as beautiful to watch as the games mentioned above

come on reds blow scumsea away in cl this week so second leg we dont have to go all out...

come on reds
come on reds
come on reds
come on reds

oh.... and come on VILLA tonight do the business over manure
come on villa

It was a good game, maybe we deserved it overall, but most of the shots that hit the woodwork were hardly open goal opportunities or they'd have been taken. Torres probably should have scored, had the best chances bar Yossi's winner. I was a bit surprised Kuyt was taken off, I thought he'd be a prime candidate to steal it at the death, but Yossi is one of our better goalscorers and someone had to make way.

I feared the worst though with time running out, I'm not greatly surprised we hit the woodwork as you can't keep knocking in hatfuls and one or two of them were efforts from some distance - flicked header from a shot from distance and Alonso hitting the bar from a speculative effort from distance. I wondered if playing Dossena was a good move, he could have got two goals with a bit of luck though. Thankfully they didn't pose too serious a threat, otherwise our lack of goals might have cost us.

I just hope we're not left reflecting on silly dropped points come the end of the season, I think Rafa is finally seeing just how crucial it is to win games. That said, I was a bit worried he didn't make his final change until very very very late, and I was wondering how the ref concluded it needed four minutes of stoppage time - not that I'm complaining. Maybe that's the sign of champions, not winning late on or 1-0, but things - big or small - going your way just when you need them. No doubt the mancs will have things big and small go their way today, maybe one or two things will go against them and cost them more players through injury or suspension

EDIT : didn't think we missed Mascherano that much, no great amount of whinging about rotation evident from the pages I've read on here - must be a result driven whinge
