arthur witty i think his name was, i`ve got the book somewhere by jimmy burns which tells of the history of barcelona fc and its links with catalonian culture.
the cross of st.george on the badge isn`t in honour of arthur witty or his brother who was also instrumental in forming the club, apparently st. george is the patron saint of catalonia (or so the book says anyway) as well as england (and georgia) so thats how its on the badge.
i was dismayed to read in the papers recently that barca are getting shirt sponsors, i was always under the impression that the shirt was seen as something sacred to barca fans and no advertisement would be allowed on it, maybe our friend from barca can shed some light on this too.

I believe that history that you say is truth by the subject of the shirt, I have says that the most of supporters of the Barça we do not want the publicity in the shirt, because we are the only equipment, just as the Athletic of Bilbao, which never we have taken publicity. But also we know that to file good players it is necessary to have money.

in liverpool you support the Olympic Games in London 2012? in Catalonia we do not want the Olympic Games in Madrid 2012.

yeah, i suppose money talks these days.
i wouldnt worry too much about madrid getting the olympics barca, its probably too soon after your city hosted the games back in 92 for spain to get another olympics. only the americans usually have that much sway over the olympic comittee.
in liverpool i honestly dont think anyone cares if london get the olympics or not, we`re a thousand times more concerned about keeping rafa benitez here until 2012 than if london gets the olympics.

understood! Rafa Benitez is a great trainer. in Barcelona also we want to gain more titles until the 2012 and not them the Olympic Games of Madrid. In the Liverpool-Chelsea match,  jumped to striker "Jimmy Jump" a man of Catalonia, the same one of the end of the Eurocopa that threw the flag to him of barça to Luis Figo (hahaha)and in Anfield also threw a flag to Mourinho.

No we dont Olympic Games because it will just mean more taxes for the people here. And i second that we are more concerned in Keeping Rafa Benitez until 2012.
