player        games         missed
johnson       17               8
agger          11               14
reiera          12               13
benny          20               5
gerrard        19                6
mash           21               4
aqillia           8                17
torres          12               13
any top team would be affected by this injury list, it could be a lot worse, i feel we have had a upturn as players are coming back and the fans have really got behind the team and this needs to continue and things will improve i am sure.

Excellent post and puts the injury "crisis" into perspective.

Yossi back next week + Torres a month away. If we can hang in there until we get this pair back + Aquilani and Maxi improve with more game time + we keep a fit squad (esp Gerrard, Mascha and Carra) then the run in could be a good one for us.

our title run starts here  :D

Will we get 4th? It's gonna go right down to the wire I think but I fancy us to do it. I figure Spurs, Villa and City are more likely to feel the pressure down the stretch where as our lads have more experience in that type of spot.

As for the injury front I'm pretty sure the mancs, Chelsea and Arsenal could all point to their own problems. Didn't the mancs play a champ league game with Fletcher and Carrick at CB earlier this season? Ferdinand has been out virtually the whole season, Hargreaves hasn't played, Vidic, Evans, Van De Sar and Brown have all missed time. Arsenal lost Van Persie, and Eduardo has been out for long stretches (Arshavin was their only available forward the last time we played them) while, Rosicky, Clichy, Almunia and Fabregas have all missed time. Chelsea have had a few as well, Joe Cole for much of the season, Essien is out for a good while and they lost Dogdoo, Kalou and Essien to the African Nations Cup. The difference is our rivals have overcome their injuries. Would Wenger, fergie or Ancellotti have entered the season comfortable in the knowledge that our next best striker (after Torres) is a young inexperienced French lad? I have my doubts.

Pompey decision to go under will be at aroudn 11:30 guys. If that happens any teams who got points against them would be void. utd docked 6 points.... imagine if that happened we would be back in the title race!

Arsenal too. I dont want to see any club ever go under but if ti happens it happens and it could put us back in the title race. Bad way to look at it I know.

they wont go under now... they'll be deducted points and given to the end of the season to sort their finances out.

They only money I can see them getting by the end of the season is the TV rights money but even then thay have to pay of that Islandic guy 15mil or so.

Either that or someone else takes them over.

and in trying to find out myself i came across this:

If the bill is not settled by then (10 February 2010) the club  will go into liquidation, if the judge grants the winding-up petition.

However a High Court judge might be reluctant to do this at the first hearing. Pompey may ask for an adjournment. In a similar situation Bournemouth Football Club were granted five adjournments.

--

so they could adjourn a few times to the end of the season, which would make the whole awkward issue of deducting points from everyone else null-and-void

In that case then if they go under at the end of the season do the other clubs then not have a right to fight to the points to be deducted retrospectively?
