We MUST win every game between now and the end of the season if we are to secure 4th spot. I think we have a genuine chance still -

- We have the easiest run in out of all those competing for the 4th spot.
- Man City look very flaky and have let us back in (and have a tough run in)
- The longer Spurs stay in the FA Cup the better. They also have some serious injury problems
- Villa looks totally shot and, as per usual, they have shot their bolt too soon
- Bitters - they have a pretty decent run and I am concerned about them

Our biggest worry is spurs.. they are furthest ahead. I think Villa will bottle it and City will draw games they should win.

If we keep playing the team we put out against pourtsmuoth then we should win every game we have left, except chelsea which will be a tough one.

We also have to worry about our away games/form. Portsmouth and Reading were supposed to be easy too. I wouldn't be too excited with our supposed easy run in.

I personally think we have no chance...

We have 3 away games... because we no longer control and dictate midfield with lucas coming in for Alonso, its nigh on impossible to go to the backyard of teams and win. Hence our 4 away wins all season we pinched... 2 included us getting battered at the bitters and stealing 3 points with 2 breakaways, last second winner at Villa after a deflected ball fell to Torres (a game inwhich he was fed on scraps). We would have been fortunate to have come away with a point a piece. I see Birmingham bullying us, exposing our weak centre and taking all 3 points.. and that definitively is 4th place over.

As i said back in October, to be able to win 6 or 7 on the trot you have to control games.. something we no longer do with our toothless central midfield. We will win one then lose two, win two then lose two... that sequence, a team that is sporadic that relies on breaks or home advantage, is us... as opposed to a team that controls games where 8 times out of 10 you win. "We controlled the first half but it was more open than I wanted in the second half as their short passing style was difficult to control."

''In the end it was comfortable with a man being sent off, but I think we were men today, we controlled the game.''

"We controlled the game, particularly in the first half, and had enough opportunities to kill it off."

“We controlled the tempo in the first half but after we conceded the goal it was difficult.”

"The conditions were really bad but little by little we controlled possession."

"I thought we had a good first half and we controlled the game at that stage, but we didn't get into their box enough to create scoring opportunities"

"We started off by controlling the game and were well organised and in the second half they did put some pressure on us but then we controlled the game at the end of the game,”

Was it against Reading at Anfield he said we were controlling the game?? Yeah rafa, as they sliced open our midfield for the umpteenth time.

I think his vocabulary is so limited he cant think of other words to say. Interviewer: "Fiorentina ran midfield and battered you today rafa".....rafa:"but but but *sniffles* we were controlling the game"

So we didn't win six on the trot between the 29th of August and the 26th of September? Despite us having a toothless midfield eh?

Fair enough that's our longest run of wins all season but taking a look at last year, our longest winning run was five games. Oh how we miss Alonso eh?

Pi'sspoor isolated example.. and who exactly did we play??... go on, list the heavyweights. If im not mistaken but that included a game against 3rd tier Leeds where had Beckford had his shooting boots on we'd have been 2-0 down with 20 to go... before our only shot on target.

Like i said... we dont control games hence are heavily reliant on breaks. It was during this period when my worries grew.

Last year we were practically untouchable in the latter part of the season. To even compare kills your point stone dead.

Have faith lads. I think we can win the remaining games and secure that 4th spot.

Yes, Spurs have a 4 point lead over us but they have some serious injury worries!

You sure you're a Liverpool supporter? Because to read most of your posts is like reading hate mail.

You said to in six or seven on the trot you've got to do this that or the other and we can't.

What I proved is we can because we have, we didn't do it last year - FACT.

And yes during that run we did get a win over a third tier Leeds United side, the same third tier Leeds United side that beat Man United later on in the season - FACT.

And we were untouchable last year towards the end, lets take the last five games in which we won all 5.

Hull (who we also beat during our six straight wins this year)
Newcastle (who went down)
West Ham (who we also beat during our six straight wins this year)
WBA (who went down)
Spurs (a mid table side at best last year)

So we were beating real heavyweights (as you put it) at the back end of last year as well eh?

Whereas in the four games before that run of five straight wins we played Arsenal and Chelsea twice and failed to win any of them - FACT. The one game we did win was Blackburn, but not the "heavyweights" as you call it.

This year, our six straight wins included the wins mentioned against Hull, West Ham and Leeds as well as Burnley, Debrecen and Bolton - FACT.

So basically it's not a poor example at all considering is it?

Anyway, come back with another argument that you can't back up, it makes ripping your posts apart much easier for me.

Ta.

What do you think the causes of this could be?  :D

Based on the fact that we haven't managed to string together 5 wins in a row all season and lost against Wigan recently and are abysmal away from home I do not believe we will get 4th.

I hope but when Rafa picks his favourite personel we can go a game vs the likes of Wolves without a shot on goal ffs!
