annoying cos man.utd + chelsea have also dropped points this season again but we haven't been good enough to capitalise on it.

Huge week this week, Arsenal look awful at the back, so disorganised, the defending by Clichy for the Park goal against united and the 2nd drogba goal yesterday was shocking.
Arsenal are there to be got at, but do we have the players to do it ?
I dont know to be honest but we should be going there with the intention of winning and playing at a really high tempo as well.
if they lost to us they could very easily fall apart imo.
Spurs despite the money spent on strikers struggle at times to score goals.
I blame the constant long balls in to Crouch. If we did that the press would be all over it but not a word gets said about old arrys long ball tactics.

Because whether a run is easier or not is subjective, can depend when you play a side and with 13 games left we should be playing mostly the same sides so where's the point?!?

Simply that it makes a big difference whether you must play certain teams at home or away. When I glanced at the teams fixtures it seemed some teams will have an easier time of it than others. Although we must play Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal away, generally we will have an easier time of it than City.

I think it helps us to play Utd and Arsenal (not so much Chelsea) away as they will come at us and we will sit deep and that benefits us. We have more trouble against Stoke and Burnley away for example as we have to take the game to them as they sit deep and that is where we have struggled (even with Alonso) because we do not have the players to unlock defences.

Although at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea sat back and counter-attacked all game (much like Stoke or Burnley)and I think we should do the same. Arsenal love to go forward and enjoyed most of the possession but as Chelsea defended well there was always going to be one winner (same for Arsenal against Utd fot that matter). Intrestingly I am curious to see how Wenger sets out his team against us, because they cannot afford to lose this one more than us.

no you misunderstand, Fergie said that because he thought we had a chance, he ony says that about teams who scare him, we have massively underperformed this season but I'm now starting to think we can knick 4th spot more down to the other teams being sh1tter than us, although we have been a bit better lately at least some team spirit is returning to the side.

away games are still something that havent really been sorted out.
We drew at Stoke and Wolves and creating next to nothing.
We have been grinding out results at Anfield but we need to start picking up wins away if we are to put pressure on Arsenal and the pretenders to the top 4.

Europe still has a BIG part to play in our season.

Postive - the 3 above us are all back in the CL as of next week
Negative - Europa League on the Thursday night meaning we'll be playing Thursday/Sunday and possibly catch up every week if the teams around win!

As for why I didn't put higher than third, the goal (sadly) is to finish fourth and anything better than that won't make us any more in the Champions League.

Surely third is better?? Two less unecessary games (competitive champions League Qualifiers) to play at the beginning of the season, remember Standard Liege, that was a titanic battle and the season had hardly started, and we are notoriously bad starters

I feel we will make the top 4 this season, which in some ways is a miracle considering H+G and the debts lack of investment in the team and the bad luck we had ie the beachball etc, but most of all as fans we must except that you cannot win games when your top players are injured, we have had 25 league games this season, these are facts

player        games         missed
johnson       17               8
agger          11               14
reiera          12               13
benny          20               5
gerrard        19                6
mash           21               4
aqillia           8                17
torres          12               13
any top team would be affected by this injury list, it could be a lot worse, i feel we have had a upturn as players are coming back and the fans have really got behind the team and this needs to continue and things will improve i am sure.

Heimdall, you seem to jump to conlusions from people's posts.

Just because sparkycc didnt include Rafa in his post doesnt meen that he thinks its not down to Rafa....

Excellent post and puts the injury "crisis" into perspective.

Yossi back next week + Torres a month away. If we can hang in there until we get this pair back + Aquilani and Maxi improve with more game time + we keep a fit squad (esp Gerrard, Mascha and Carra) then the run in could be a good one for us.
