and I have us just sneaking 4th.
Arsenal 84
Chelsea 82
Man U   80
Liverpool 69
Man City 69

Of course, high aspirations and all that  :D

They have a pretty tough run-in in fairness. Ourselves and the other top teams should open up a considerable gap. Interestingly enough, at the same stage four seasons ago we were six points ahead of Spurs and at the end of it all we were sixteen ahead. Similarly in the same season, after the same number of games, Arsenal were only four points ahead of Wigan and seven ahead of Everton and they finished 16 and 17 ahead respectively. And also two seasons ago after 30 games we were three ahead of Everton and finished 11 ahead. Clearly, then, not beyond the realms of possibility if on the outer limit.

We will be either sixth or seventh....Can't believe we are so shlt.....What bothers me even more is that the situation has no solution.

if City get fourth next season will be a lot harded because they'll go on a massive spending spree in the summer

Hopefully God's looking down on us with a wad of cash  :alien:

The negative nature of Rafa is now strangling us

Arsenal have an inferior first XI.. yet Wenger picks creative players and allows them to express themselves. Pass, move, triangles, beautiful free flowing play...and with a budget far lower than Rafas. A technical player in Aquilani would be ahead of an inferior carthorse in lucas every day of the week in a Wenger team.. not rafas.

This was on Rawk, if you didnt support Liverpool would you watch us?? I sure as hell wouldn't and the vast majority said no as we are ugly as hell to watch.

Yes I am sure that we will be fourth, I see improvment in our players and I am optimistic about this... at least thats what Rafa would have said :D.

The odd thing is that if you'd never seen us before, we look like a really well drilled team (apart from when we defend set-pieces when we are shambolic). We hunt in packs, close down well, shut spaces, defend in banks of four etc etc like a really efficient unit. We don't play a lot of offside but we hold the line really well and are difficult to play well against. If Rafa had taken over two months ago, you'd say he was a magician for having us so well organised and for making a bunch of players of which far too many are average into a competitive team.

The unfortunate thing is of course that Rafa didn't take over a couple of months back, he took over six seasoons ago. The average players are his buys, often better players have been moved on to make space for them. Ouur paucity of imagination going forward is a travesty, the blame for which lies firmly at the managers door, and the best Houllier teams would IMHO have eaten this lot for breakfast in a match up.

On the question of fourth, despite everything I think we might still make it. The pressure on the others around us will start to have an effect onthem before long, and as long as our fair play cup thing exploits on a Thursday night don't impact too heavily on us for the weekend, I think we might still just make it.

Thing is Houllier was merely functional/efficient also... it was a well organised unit, 10 men behind the ball... then hoof (looking for Owen to pinch).

It was in early 2000's that Arsenal fans started to chant "hoof the ball" at us... and with Alonso gone we have reverted back to that this season as theres no one in central mid who takes the ball off the back 4 and initiates play.

The last manager that played football was Evans... but he had no nous as regards developing a tight/cohesive unit.

We haven't yet got a Premiership title winning standard manager
