we must have watched different games mate. I saw us playing poorly, Rafa not giving a sh!t as usual and his bland managing costing us another game and making us look like one of the most boring teams in the premiership

Kuyt staying on for 83 minmutes.. Johnson coming on for 40 mins even tho not match fit.. taking Yossi off for Aqua when everyone knew we needed both on... plus as always nothing done til almost too late. was just poor poor poor. bland management making us a bland team

You said you wanted johnson on from the start ?! now he is wrong to bring him on for 40 mins ?  Yossi was doinh sweet FA all game and we all know that kuyt has scored and got us many many late goals to win games

what it comes down to mate, is we play poor football. We have a great squad, full of ability, but without the engine the more technical players cant do there job, and Stevie seems scared to try lately.
Aqua still not starting, Johnson being on the bench so not fit but can still play a half?
I stick up for Kuyt more than most but even i saw last night he was a fecking liability. As long as Rafa is in charge nothing will change, we'll get more and mroe boring and no one will wanna buy us, or sign for us

Yes kuyt had a shocker last night and yes gerrard is playing shocking at the moment and needs a right good kick up the backside - they all fecking do.

Johnson was a risk but at least he was prepared to take a risk with him

we won't make fourth :(
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I dont think we will make fourth, we need this season to be over then crack on with rebuilding and pushing forward for next season. This season has been an utter disgrace.

sorry to butt in on your discussion, but reading through the thread... this bit in bold is boll.ox.. and this kind of statement will always be boll.ox

Likewise one could say

if wigan players had took their chances they could have easily won 4-0

if man city players had took their chances they could have easily won 3-0

if wolves players had took their chances they could have easily won 2-0

... well you catch my drift

reina's saved our bacon on many occasion this season - with an outstanding save in the 91st minute against blackburn allowing us to win the game.

As much as we'd like to we can not use the "If the players had taken their chances"... 'cause if they did that every game... we'd be top of the league.

Exactly. This wasn't a game that we dominated and lost simply through blunt finishing. Wigan played the better football and created the better chances. It isn't a one-off game, either, and that's why we have a serious problem.

We have of course had one-off games where poor finishing or misfortune has cost us, this just wasn't one of them. Furthermore, if that explanation gets trotted out often enough then in reality it is highly likely that something more fundamental than bad luck or dodgy finishing is amiss.
