No, I used the word "interesting" rather than "fascinating" as I felt it gave a more accurate indication of the emotion it stirred in me at the time.

"Fascination" and being "wowed" does happen from time to time, but not on this occasion.

AH GYBS. It wasn't really about building up a "CV against Rafa" (what is one of those ???) it was more about having a discussion on whether or not Gerrard had been performing THAT poorly and whether it was wise to "go public" with any criticism.

Despite concerted attempts by the usual suspects to drown out any sensible talk with silliness, posturing and blanket throwing some interesting points came up.

No "CV's against Rafa" though mate  :buttrock

On the issue of media handling, I've seen that Wenger's been 'bitching' to the press over the past few days on the Eduardo/Old-trafford issues.

The clueless crank that he is.

Eboue didn't dive though! I can't believe some of the idiotic fans and commentators who think he did.

You should all know that poor old Emmanuel has a medical condition that means if someone comes within a foot of him he is thrown to the ground like a little girl pushed over by a big bully. It's not his fault and he can't help it. Wenger's appealed to FIFA to give him and the rest of the Arsenal players special exemption from the laws of the game. :p

I do like posters but i never know whether to use Blu-Tac or Safety Pins

Blu Tac is easier on the thumbs but doesnt stay stuck in the long run & brings the plaster off the wall

Safety Pins secure the posters in thier position but they leave holes in the wall & spoil the look of the poster

which is better Safety Pins or Blue-Tac...hhmmmmmmmm

Theres only one way to find out..............FFFFIIIIGGGHHHHTT

I am not a fan of criticising players in public because by and large they are immature, egotistical and stupid. Rafa is playing a dangerous game but he must think he knows what hes doing. It gives the papers and other teams the opportunity to slag us off and talk of dressing room unrest. Bur we all know by now how stubborn Rafa is. He will do and say what he wants, where and when he wants.

Gerrard digs us out of the sh!t yet again and it's tactical genius  :)

Seriously though, thank feck for that.

errrrr Mick... let me see... If i'm not wrong, you felt that Benitez had 'criticised' Gerrard in public and suggested that he probably shouldn't have done so. Now Gerrard has upped his gear, rescued us from :censored: yet again after Rafa's comments and you're gonna dismiss the likelihood (a likelihood which is very very plausible) that he was indeed responding to Rafa's kick up his butt, and that Rafa did the right thing? You're starting to make me think that you think "our captain" is the be-all and end-all of this club. Let's just fire benitez and appoint Steven Gerrard as a player- manager now shall we?  :)

Makes one wonder whether you're trying to find another pet topic of yours after rotation... "the theory that it is all down to 'our captain' "...

Gerrard may not be at 100% but even at 50% he is a million times better than a few other players we have who are not pulling their weight. Gerrard has done so much for this club he deserves to be cut some slack when he has a bad patch. This is in contrast to a few others who seem to be escaping flack/public criticism despite doing sweet FA for us, who either need a rocket up their backside or even to be shipped out.

the most likely thing to have affected gerrards "mentality" and his on-field form is his continuing legal shenanigans, i would have thought

again, Rafa's fault for setting up the team to thrash newcastle last season  :talktothehand

Are we gonna dismiss the likelihood that Benitez probably knows his players' personalities better than perhaps we do? There is no denying the fact Gerrard is 100 times better than some of the players we have. Just because he's better doesn't mean that he can slack off. He's the captain, he's the most skilled. Therefore he has the most responsibility. I can't speak for others but I have felt that on certain occasions Gerrard does look indeed uninspired. One could see the evidence in his body language. Having said that he has always responded positively towards criticism which is a great trait for a leader. Like someone has pointed out, Houllier at one time singled out Gerrard and told him he's much better than he was playing then. This was all over the news. Gerrard admitted it and from then onwards continued improving and became the player he is now. If anyone is in a position to know well the players' personalities and how to manage them, it is Benitez and not us.
