He left Wigan in a pretty healthy state, Gibbs. Good one for Sunderland I think, not spectacular but will do a consistent job.

I like Martinez a lot so I'll tip him to do well in future.

Burnley play excellent football but they've signed David Edgar and Tyrone Mears which doesn't inspire confidence in Coyle's player-spotting ability. Good manager Coyle but with a lot to learn.

Mowbray appointment was a big surprise I thought, his sides are good at painting pictures, but not so good with the cut and thrust of elite football. Maybe he'll pull it back together now he's back in the SPL, after all Rangers aren't exactly spectacular.

Barnes has found his managerial level  :D

Not sure about Ancelotti or McCarthy.

Mowbray is a strange choice and the fans will tire of him quickly. MacCarthy is a survivor. Bruce is plain ugly, you'd think with his money he'd get his nose sorted out. After Big Fil going Ancelotti will be given tme and money - 2 seasons?

Barnsey has to be the weakest link surely?

Ancelotti as he will not find Premier as expected and his team are old and tired

Dont agree with that at all mate.
They played some decent football but went down, they were always going down as well and he didnt do anything to change it.
Thats not good management.

Stoke might be horrible to watch and even worse to play against but they were comfortably mid table.
Therefore far more deserving of staying up.

Its not all about playing pretty football, its about results.

On the subject of the question Barnes struggled at Celtic and wont have any money at Tranmere really so he will find it difficult more than likely.
Mahon is a good signing though.
Birmingham will really struggle imo, not a good side and the signings so far dont look great.

Doyle should prove a decent signing for Wolves imo.

I'm worried about Birmingham mate, Rafa hasn't beat them in the league yet has he?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing

Barnes will have a cracking season imo. Although alot depends on who Liverpool give Tranmere on loan. He will prove the doubters wrong.
