i dont want to be pedantic mate but i`ve got a feeling van der saar won it with ajax when the likes of overmars, kluivert, seedorf and the de boer twins were playing in the mid 90`s.

Good luck in the rest of your career Dudie!!  Will always remember the amazing save on Sheva in extra time.......

When Liverpool was touring the states several years ago, I went to the match v. Roma at Giants Stadium in NJ (where Owen scored his final goal for the Reds I belive.....).  I had the pleasure of sitting next to a group of Poles who were the biggest Jerzy fans ever.  All of them had his keeper kit on, and they were singing songs to him all match.  We got hammered and talked about the 'Pool all night, during the match and tailgating in the parking lot.  Great group of guys, outstanding night!!!!!

I spent a large part of the afternoon watching the"Road to Istanbul" dvd (again :D  ) . Not sure if any other keeper could've put in the performance that Jerzy did that night. He'll always be a legend for me if only for that one game . I wish him the best of luck in where ever his career takes him .

Hope he gets a standing ovation, not the best keeper to ever where the Liverpool shirt, but certainly the hero from Istanbul and deserves respect after such a terrible season.

How cruel is this? He may miss his chance to play on Sunday due to injury... from LFC.tv

INJURY COULD RUIN DUDEK FAREWELL
Jimmy Rice 11 May 2007

Injury appears to have robbed Jerzy Dudek of his last chance to play in front of the Kop.

With his contract up in the summer and rival Pepe Reina injured, the stage looked set for the Pole to bid an emotional farewell against Charlton on Sunday.

However, Rafa Benitez today confirmed the 34-year-old has failed to recover from a problem which kept him out of last week's visit to Fulham.

The Spaniard told a Melwood press conference: "Sissoko is not available, Reina is injured and maybe also Dudek. It will be difficult for Jerzy to play."

Italian under-21 stopper Daniele Padelli is likely to deputise in goal.

I feel bad for the lad because he was clearly looking forward to saying goodbye.  Hopefully he pulls off a late recovery.

It's worth mentioning, though, that any send off for Dudek is going to be mightily overshadowed by the tribute to God on Sunday.  Maybe, from an ego preservation point of view, he should just rewatch the tape of the 2005 victory parade, where thousands were singing his name.

Best of luck Jerzy and thanks for that memorable night!  :buttrock
