The lad is 21 - he has had a short career so far with a few highlights and glimpses that show he can be a good player for us as he develops but I hope he isn't our top signing this summer as that will be a bit underwhelming and disappointing. Glad we signed him but hope for me to arrive.

If this is the signing that Rodgers alluded to then it isn't what he was suggesting. I thought it was a bit niave of him with that statement - it was always going to put a bit of pressie on him

I think it is the Exciting player Rodgers was reffering to as after he had signed Rodgers made a comment something on the lines of there going to love him here - similar to the ones he made when discussing the furture exciting transfer

and he's probably right, we are going to love him because he's young and exciting and has a great talent. He'll do well at this club and Rodgers will deserve the credit for bringing him here.

He hasn't kicked a ball yet - so if it's ok I'll hold back on the over the top praise.

He could bomb massively and struggle badly

He hasn't kicked a ball yet so if it's ok I'll hold back on the pessimism

He could be awesome and bang the goals in for a laugh
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

He could well do and if he had a track record that points to that then you could think that will happen.

I think he will be a good signing but it's not going to be instant.

Can someone tell me what this lads role will be?

To play off Suarez, to feed Suarez, to replace Suarez or to be Carroll's provider of match winning goals?

Not only has he not kicked a ball but we don't even know where he fits in.  BR might have done a Paisley with Ray Kennedy and bought him to put him in midfield.

i think he'll be the fulcrum point and suarez will attack from wider areas in a 4-3-3. i don't see us playing 4-4-2 under rodgers.

Pretty much mate - some go a little overboard with the hype.

every signing is a gamble. some will hit the ground running. some won't. the fact is we don't know how quickly this guy will adapt. his previous record is of no real interest to me. we've seen players with much better goalscoring records come over here and struggle to reproduce that form.

from what i've seen he looks relatively quick and technically good. he knows where the goal is and can play anywhere in a front 3. i'm excited to see him play and if he gets the right service i'm sure he'll be a success.

I thought Suarez's traditional role was provider? so this lad ccant be the fulcrum unless we have 2 playmakers (which I also thought was SG).
The picture aint clear to me yet. always a provider and a finisher - Keegan/Tosh, Kenny/Rush, Morecambe/Wise.
