Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Good post again Mick, Im really worried about the champions league now though, with no Alonso, Gerrard out for the first game against Leverkusen, we only have Hamman and Biscuit available for that game, would you put your faith in Biscan after tuesday night?
And if rafa was going to buy another midfielder of some quality the likes of Aimar, he would be cup tied :( .
Owen coming back he would be cup-tied after Rafa keeping him of our team sheet for the CL.
Think we cant wait to put this season behind us meself, its been a bit of a nightmare with everything.
Best hope now is 4th, Carling cup, and a good CL run.

Why would we want MO back? Because the lad is absoultely top drawer!! He's scoring goals for fun in Spain, however he will never get a starting place in the team ahead of Raul and Ronaldo.... fact, and when Robiniho arrives he will be pushed down further again. To the best of my knowledge there was a clause inserted in the transfer that Liverpool had first refusal on MO if Madrid ever decide to sell him.

As for Baros being sold.... that is a crock of sh*t. Rafa is not going to sell the only international quality striker we have eligible for the CL in the January sales... that's absolute madness.

So please think before you post sometimes people  :)

haha simic
do you just love them running their mouths like that.
just good for more debate.

Lynds I'm not one for making rash, silly predictions so heres a rash, silly prediction. I've got a strong hunch we will progress past Leverkusen and go very close to winning the thing. Don't know why but it's just a feeling. Lets face it we've got to be due a bit of fortune and the odd dodgy penalty or two. The big sides (it kills me that we're not that at the moment) are all playing each other and nobody was talking about Porto at this time last year. They got mega-lucky against Man Ure (ha-ha-ha) and the rest is history.
I've also long held the view that the 'Champions League' name and format is a load of old b0ll0cks and its surely only a matter of time before a fairly ordinary team who has not an earthly of winning their own league anytime soon wins it. We could be that team. Liverpool supporters (particularly those who live in Liverpool) have suffered a lot these last few years and maybe, just maybe its payback time. It would be so feckin funny I know that much. Makes me smile just thinking about it, beaten by Burnley in the F.A.Cup and European Champions.

You're not the only one. Somehow I feel that we will win the CL this year or at least reach the Semi-Finals. It could be that me and you are too optimistic but it never hurts to hope.

I had a good feeling about it too, if only we had another good striker and xabi comes back, if we progress then it will be a a trophey we are long overdue to winning  .
The Greeks done it in euro 2004 so maybe us underdogs are still in with a chance hey :D

Lamine Sakho's arrival at St Etienne could prompt a return to English football for Liverpool's Anthony Le Tallec.

Elie Baup swooped to seal a deal for former Leeds man Sakho this week, and may well now look to end the loan spell of Le Tallec.

The French media suggest that Premiership sides Norwich and Crystal Palace have expressed their interest at taking the player from The Reds, as they look to build squads capable of staying in the top flight.

The former Le Havre starlet was farmed out for the season by new Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez to gain experience, but has attracted mixed reviews from his time back in France.

Le Tallec has scored just once in the league from seven appearances, and it appears Baup would not be against his exit.

I still can't believe that the Greeks pulled it off this year, just shows that with teamwork and a little luck,  a lot can be achieved.

The arrogance of Mourinho (which incidently i find hilarious, I really like the guy) was in evidence even then. No waiting for the final whistle and biting his nails for the last 90 seconds, he just fecked off down the tunnel! "Now we've scored its all over". No wonder he gets under Fergusons skin.  :D

Nothing regarding M.O will happen untill the summer (FIFA rules etc) but he may well have already contacted the club to see how the land lies regarding a return. However regarding that he won't want to return because it will deemed to be a failer, he will compound that failer if he stayed and that affected his England career. I'm sure if he was back in a red shirt of Liverpool and scoring regularly a vast majority would excuse his trip to the Spanish funny farm, I know I would for one.
However for what it's worth I believe he will sign for Chelsea in the summer along with his new found friend D Beckham

I know now that certain members on here will now jump all over me claiming it's bullsh!t, which it maybe, but I have a inside source who is usually reliable. I can not reveal him on here cos he works for the club, internally.

Im just the messenger, Im not a rumour spreader.

Stupid claim. Benitez will not sell his best players. Owen back? Not a chance in hell. Owen is on his way down, Baros is on his way up. And also I agree with one of the posters in here. Benitez will never let the only available CL striker leave us.

Owen is not on his way down, he scores lamost evry game he plays for Real at the moment and they are struglling.

Owen still has more class than Baros (no dig at Baros who i rate highly), deal with it!.
