I don't care who score and what is the score line ... as long Liverpool Win the Game and get the 3 points . We lost 2 points last week and we can't keep droping points ... We must "tag" along with the "top 2 teams" ...

Our 2nd BIG test of the season in the league and I think we will come through it with the points. We have a steely determination about us this season and, like vs Man Utd, I think the big game will bring the best out of us.

OK we cocked up against Stoke last week but we absolutely pummelled them and on another day could've scored 10...

I am confident going into the derby, very confident in fact :;):

cant see us playing anything other than a 4-4-2 again tomorrow..

                                Reina

Arbeloa        Carragher          Skrtel          AGGER

PENNANT       Gerrard         Mascherano      Riera

                    Keane           Torres

if aurelio isnt ready i think we should give agger a chance at left back... dossena hasnt shown anything yet and if Arteta is playing i can see him running circles around Dossena.. agger is more composed and from what iv seen of him has everythhing to make him a good left back in the mould of maldini, chivu, heinze with the difference in quality...
anyways.. should be a tough one but if we can sort out Yakubu (granted Saha doesnt start) then i think we'll be okay..

He doesn't seem up for a scrap and he won't get time and space on the ball - something he needs a lot of to perform well, but if the game opens up he may be useful as an impact sub. Keeping possession is very important in this fixture, and generally in fixtures where the pressure is really on and the crowd are looking to give them momentum. Lose possession, the crowd get behind them, they harness the momentum and put us under pressure (e.g. Chelsea & Everton away last season). Cahill is very dangerous in the air and I'd fancy him to beat any of our defenders if the delivery is good enough. Preventing Arteta from crossing will be key as he had a very good game last year and they generally pose a threat from the air, add to that the fact that our FBs are distinctly average at blocking crosses and I'd play Gerrard on the right (or Kuyt if need be).

Same back four, Alonso, Mascherano, Riera, Gerrard, Keane and Torres, is what I'd go for.

My knowledge of other teams is very limited (and I think the kind of oppo players we face also dictates our team selections, so I don't usually try to guess what the starting eleven will be), where does the midfielder of San Sebastian play these days in Everton? in the right? he's quite versatile and I think he could be used in the middle aswell. In fact, I thought that having a good relationship with Reina and all, he might be an interesting target for a RM role in our team.

I also know Cahill, if I have to be honest I think Everton hasn't a bad team whatsoever. But Liverpool are better.

A defeat would bring a lot of dissapointment, if we draw away, we'll be more or less like now, and if we win, euphoria will fill our hearts.

Less than 24 hours now people  :buttrock . I'm really looking forward to this one, though I'll no doubt be biting my nails come tomorrow. These types of games, in which it's absolutely terrible to lose but equally fantastic to win, are what football's all about imo. You sit/stand there all game long with sweaty palms and wait for your heros to score, whilst at the same time you fear that the opposition will suddenly hit you with a sucker punch... pure adrenaline :D. I just hope we go for the jugular tomorrow, as the bitters are there for the taking I reckon. Their defence has been all over the place recently, but at the same time they've been scoring quite a few goals through Yakubu and Cahill. We need to be all over them from the beginning, but we also need to control our temper a bit, as we all know Riley is quite happy to show off his cardgame.

This is the team I expect to see Rafa put out:

                         Reina

Arbeloa       Carra        Skrtel      Dossena (if Aurelio's still out)

Kuyt         Gerrard         Masch     Riera

               Keane           Torres

Alternatively he might bring on Alonso instead of Keane and push the wings and Gerrard further forward, I think (knowing Rafa he'll probably do something completely different :D).

Roll on tomorrow and come on you redmen!

MASCHERANO AND BENAYOUN DERBY DOUBTS

Liverpool will give late fitness tests to midfield duo Javier Mascherano and Yossi Benayoun ahead of this weekend's Merseyside derby at Goodison.
Mascherano is trying to shake off a calf injury while Benayoun has an ankle knock.

Brazilian defender Fabio Aurelio is back to full fitness and is available for selection.

"We have a couple of knocks for Javier and Yossi but we need to speak to the doctor and see how they are in training today," said Benitez.

"Clearly it will be a late decision on whether they can be involved this weekend."

If Mascherano is out, he'll play Lucas and Alonso.

I just don't see him risking playing Gerrard and Alonso central in a game of this magnitude.

why not?

gerrard-alonso pairing is quite good and Everton will definetly not park the bus tommorow.

The only worry is that it means kuyt will play on the right

I wonder if this is in the same sense that Gerrard and Torres were "out" of the Man Utd game?

We need Mascherano tomorrow.

Masch might start as i don't see a point having him on the bench as if we go a goal down , there's nothing masch can do . Play him from the start and i think rafa will . If we can get a early goal , we could see maybe a 3-0 but i'd happily take a 1-0 right now .

This game always worries me at everscums ground any win will do , I think this is game where the big boys need to stand up and be counted and put in a top performance.

Tho I am not rafa's biggest fan not much he can do in games like this he needs the players to go out there and send the nevertons a message from kick off.

1-0 to the pool or any score line that wins us it.  :D

I given up on posting my team at start lets just hope we perform well and get a win if we lose this I be gutted.

were you not reading the above posts?  He might not be fit to start.  I wonder if this had anything to do with why he was left out of the Stoke match. Everyone assumed that it was because we needed as many offsenively skilled players out there as possible, but maybe it was fitness that kept him out.
