Fowler still is such a clever player, just think Rafa let him go and brought in Voronin to play 'between the lines' i know alot thought/think Robbie was past it but he never let us down and as an option would of still produced the goods imo.

I bet Torres would of enjoyed Fowler playing behind him, with Robbies vision and ability to make and find space.

I've actually got a really good feeling about this game. This feeling comes from the fact that Everton can't defend for toffee (pardon the pun). They've conceded 11 in five games in the League including three at home to both Blackburn and Portsmouth (who are having a nightmare at the moment).

The defence pretty much picks itself, Mascherano and Alonso will probably play central, I can't see Kuyt being dropped under any circumstances so the main decision will be Babel or Riera on the left. I can see Gerrard playing off Torres with Keane on the bench if I'm honest.

We went there last season and won with Kuyt and Voronin upfron ffs. Rafa also took Gerrard of after 65 minutes with the game at 1-1. If we get the team selection right I'm sure we'll get a positive result.

It beggars belief that he keeps getting the big games. He was a disgrace in the Chelsea-United match last week.

If Riley is our ref, we might get that goal that Stoke owes us from last week.

Penalty for Liverpool, Lescott whispering in Torres ear :D

Riley should never ref a game ever again, in fact the season he gave the mancs SEVEN penalties at old trafford in one season should have seen his enforced retirement

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2004/nov/03/theknowledge.sport

At that point (Nov 2004) Riley had awarded TEN penalties to the mancs at home, we were at that time one of very few to ever get a penalty as the away side. Might be too much to conclude that loving the mancs so much he might despise us and pity the bitters. Can we have Howard Webb instead?

Rockthekop - wasn't Lescott dropped a game or two ago? :D After I got an earful from a bitter for suggesting he's not good enough for England (Golem must agree with me!)

I wouldn't start Babel against Everton. He doesn't seem up for a scrap and he won't get time and space on the ball - something he needs a lot of to perform well, but if the game opens up he may be useful as an impact sub. Keeping possession is very important in this fixture, and generally in fixtures where the pressure is really on and the crowd are looking to give them momentum. Lose possession, the crowd get behind them, they harness the momentum and put us under pressure (e.g. Chelsea & Everton away last season). Cahill is very dangerous in the air and I'd fancy him to beat any of our defenders if the delivery is good enough. Preventing Arteta from crossing will be key as he had a very good game last year and they generally pose a threat from the air, add to that the fact that our FBs are distinctly average at blocking crosses and I'd play Gerrard on the right (or Kuyt if need be).

Same back four, Alonso, Mascherano, Riera, Gerrard, Keane and Torres, is what I'd go for.

3-1.  Torres, Torres, Gerrard.  Or if Keane is playing: Torres, Keane, Gerrard.

And if I had to guess, Arteta is going to score.

2 tough games in 5 days - EFC then PSV.  Will rafa go flat out for 2 victories or settle for a draw against the bitters, will he rotate.

Decisions, choices..... when in doubt... rotate.....
