It's a bit like the League Cup in that you can't really get excited about it until you find yourself in the semis plus we are playing a team that sounds like an STD :D

It's more like winning a medal in the special olympics - better not to be in the competition in the first place.

And you are a c'unt.

Why? because I made a special olympics joke? come on, much humour is based on such stuff (blind, short, disabled,) etc, jaysus watch a Jimmy Carr gig.

No offense meant, just a joke.

He`s funny your not.
You surely new you were going toget flamed for a comment like that.

Well say what you like but I`m looking forward to it, like I do every game and I hope we win it, like I do every comp.
Its also a good chance to see if some of our younsters are up to it.
People saying we would be better off out are just spoilled on CL footy, sad really.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

I really don't see how anyone can be excited about us being in this cup, its the only cup I know of that we had to LOSE to qualify for.  :D Maybe if they had an FA CUP LOSERS CUP WE WOULD WIN THAT TOO.

So technically if we lose this so called 4th place playoff we actually go into the CL? Makes sense.  :D

No mate its a Losers cup, so if we lose in the playoffs we get Europa League.  :D

We win nothing for 3 seasons and people have the nerve to turn their noses up at the Europa? FFS com on. Atleast when my Utd mate starts givin me :censored: i can say we have won the Europa.

As far as I can see, our form in Europe dont really have relevance in domestic competition. You can tell when we are the only team that won the CL but couldn't(almost) qualify for the next season's CL.

The competition wasnt such a joke then. It was a lesser competition yes but it still carried some sort of respect. Now its been tampered with so much, leagues have been created to accommodate pub teams from foreign countries. Only when we face well known teams can we take a modicum of respect from this competition. The rest is a farce.

Were you excited when Gary Mac tucked away that penalty against Barca?

B0llocks. It's essentially very similar as it contains sides of a similar sort of standard to those of 2001. Much depends on the draw of course, but we could conceivably face the likes of Juve, Valencia, Roma and Benfica.

it's a chance to win silverware and a professional club's job is to win silverware... simple as that...

of course it's not as prestigious as the Champions League but beggars can't be choosers now can we...

Ok......

Is it or isnt it?

No it doesnt. It has more lesser teams involved. Hence the League system they have introduced.

Much depends on the draw of course, but we could conceivably face the likes of Juve, Valencia, Roma and Benfica.

So like I said, until we face these teams, its considered a farce. How is what I have said b0llocks? The system introduced by UEFA is trying to liven up a lesser competition. By getting rid of the Cup Winners Cup, they have tried to big up the UEFA cup, and messed it up badly. As each year has gone by, they have degraded the UEFA cup to our own version of the League cup. And we all know how we treat that competition.

For everyboby claiming to have no interest in this competition, please do us a favour. If we crash out of it, please do not write long posts about how cr@p we are to go out in such a mediocre competition. Because if you don't care, you don't care.

As for me, I'm looking forward to it, especially the latter stages if we make it through. Problem is I am not that confident, we would be a major scalp for the lesser teams.

C'mon you reds!!!

Imagine getting to the semis and then beating the bitters!!! That would be fooking amazing! I remember no one was particularly bothered about the League Cup in 2003, we had a shi....t..e season but beating the mancs that day was one of my best memories in football. I'd love a Mersey derby in this comp!

the competition criteria, setup and organisation are irelevent. The only important factor is Liverpool are in this so the team should go all out to try to win it. no matter what. If we somehow got entered into the Johnstones Paint trophy we should go all out to win it. Winning gives the team confidence. Go out and knock 6 past this bunch tonight and confidence gets boosted ahead of Man.City game.

but it is really easy, if you dont hold it with any regard, hate the fact we're in it, think it's a farce, too embarrasing to watch then dont watch it, dont come on here and slag it off, dont think everyone else is a cnt for wanting to win this. just stay out of this topic and let everyone who is bothered contribute.

...but there's another condition. If we win this competition do not come on to discuss the final and how great it is to win blah blah blah cos some of ya are two faced wazzacks
Sex, drugs and sausage rolls!

ok, and if we don't win it, and any player gets injured, dont go in any topic saying "well we had to try, even if we do end up 6th" :D
