No its not much better than the League cup in my personal opinion, but at least its something to take the edge off our poor season. If that sounds arrogant I apologise, but WE ARE LIVERPOOL not some team that is thankful for scraps off the plate of bigger clubs. If we progress I expect the interest will intensify and if we get to the final I think we will all be happy to win it.

Its stuff like, i might do the ironing instead that is not nice to read.
Even if it is tongue and cheek, just seems dead big headed.

Yes we are Liverpool but we have no divine right to be in the champions league and while i am gutted to be out this trophy deserves more respect than its getting imo.

everyone of us wishes we were still in the champ league ( well i hope so anyway ) but this is silverware and some thing we should be looking to win

it might not be as good as old big ears but feck it win it anyway and say to the world.. yes we missed out on big ears but won the second prize. it may not hold as much grace but let us show the other teams we are still a great team who play with pride and passion in what ever match it is to win silverware

so i for one will be watching and given my wife ear ache

Priority is the key. You dont play all your first team players in some European Coca Cola cup and neglect the club's more important goal of reaching top 4 finish. Why it's more important? Here's a break down (Source)

Bonuses Champions League 2008/2009 – 2009/2010
Group Stage (fixed): €5.4m – €7.1m
Group Stage Victory: €600k – €800k
Group Stage Draw: €300k – €400k
Round of 16: €2.2m – €3m
Quarterfinal: €2.5m – €3.3m
Semifinal: €3m – €4m
Losing Finalist: €4m – €5.2m
Winner: €7m – €9m
Theoretical Maximum: €23.7m – €31.2m

Bonuses UEFA Cup/Europa League 2008/2009 – 2009/2010
Group Stage (fixed): €115k – €900k
Group Stage Victory: €40k – €120k
Group Stage Draw: €20k – €60k
Round of 32: €70k – €180k
Round of 16: €70k – €270k
Quarterfinal: €300k – €360k
Semifinal: €600k – €630k
Losing Finalist: €1.5m – €2m
Winner: €2.5m – €3m
Theoretical Maximum: €3.815m (CL 6.2x more) – €6.06m (CL 5.1x more)
===============================

Dont misunderstand, I will still be happy if they win the competition but I dont want to see the first team players getting injured or tired from playing in this competition.

Hang on a sec, let me look at that comment through my hole and see if it makes any sense.....Here we go....Urrrrggghhhhh....Nope. None whatsoever....

Muppet !

What a stupid comment to make....

Are you suggesting "if we did a Leeds and got "relagated" (sic) I would morph into a Newcastle fan" ? Do you have the first farkin' iota what you're trying to say ?

FYI, I've been a fan over 30 years. Numpty.

Where then did Mr. Purslow get his figures in the days following our elimination from the CL ?

what the heck. A trophy is still a trophy unless it's an intertoto cup... still got the fever but hey, that's not going to stop me from waking up at 4 am just to support the team. Cheers!

Makes perfect sense.

If you have this attitude of ' We should be in the best competitions ' and ' I *might* consider watching this game even though its the crappy euro cup ' then ive got every reason to believe that you *might* not watch us if we were playing in the championship.

Dont matter how many years you have been a fan for, you should still at LEAST watch your team even if it is only the Euro cup.

I class the Europa to be as glorious as the FA cup easily. Lots of good teams are in it and when we've won it we can the the Champions league winners :)

Europe League? I. Could. Not. Give. A. :censored:.

The best thing Rafa can do is play a second string side - give the benchers a chance (Pacheco, Spearing, etc) and get some European experience.
AND HERE COMES AVI COHEN!! OH I SAY - AT THE SAME END HE'S GOT ONE BACK!!!!!!!!!!

It's more like winning a medal in the special olympics - better not to be in the competition in the first place.

Am not saying they never but us sneering down at this competition is arrogant.
Who the feck do we think we are ?

As you said mate we are Liverpool . and what do we exist to do WIN trophies , So in my eyes lets go out and win this one,
Up until five years ago this was he only Trophy we stood a chance of winning in Europe for a long period of time, No one was saying then its shi.te , It just shows you how spoilt we have become in the last five years reaching two finals and a semi and a quarter in the champions league, Of course it hurts not to be still in with a shout of the Champions league but id never turn my nose up at any European Trophy.

Exactly. its a big trophy and has many big teams in it. Progression in this cup could ehance our performances against our 4th spot competitors. For example just say we win a semi leg and go to the final. That will give us a massive moral boost for the next Prem game after.

We win nothing for 3 seasons and people have the nerve to turn their noses up at the Europa? FFS com on. Atleast when my Utd mate starts givin me :censored: i can say we have won the Europa.
