Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby JC_81 » Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:43 pm

Recently LFC forums have been full of chat about what's going on off the field, and while I accept that this is massively important to the club, I for one am completely sick of it.

Rafa's rant against Fergie.  The takeover (or lack of one).  Gillette and Hicks not speaking.  Rafa's contract.  Rafa's desire to have control over the academy.  Parry's incompetence.  Rafa's call for coaching straff contracts to be sorted out.  Our lack of activity in the transfer market this January.  Rafa's decision to sell Keane.  For fu.ck sake where will it end!!??

Is it just me or do we as fans seem to concentrate far too much these days on what goes on off the pitch?  Gone are the days when people just talked about pure football and a bit of the transfer gossip.  Now it's all media bullsh.it, contract wrangling and takeover talk.

I'm going to try my best not to engage in any more of this cr@p from now til the end of the season.  I'm looking forward to our next game, I'm looking forward to the games against Madrid, I'm looking forward to seeing how far we can push the Mancs this season and how far we can go in the CL.

Erm, since when did football fans speak exclusively about matters on the pitch? A football club is a broader spectrum of interest other than just what happens on a Saturday afternoon.

You know what he's trying to say tho, don't you.......?

We are having the best season, points wise, for a long time and we should be concentrating on football, tactics and matches past and present rather than talking about all of the matters behind the scenes. I say behind the scenes as loosley as possible as all of our dirty washing is out in public at the moment. A real shame for a club like ours. This is partly Rafa's and the yank's doing but it is , more often than not, the media causing trouble by reporting trash and stretching what seems to be the truth out of all proportion. It has become boring, gone are the days when I read the 'Takeover' thread everyday for the newest little snippet of information, as are are the days when I look for developments over new contracts or the lack of.

I realy don't care, its not the reason I support the club or the follow the team. At the moment there is more exciting things to tlak about. Being two points behind Manchester United and willing out players to success is what I want to do.

I wish things were sorted out off the field, every Liverpool fan does. We all want the best for the club as a whole and for the future of the team... look at it this way we want all of this nonsense sorted off the field in order to ensure security on the field in years to come. but in reality there is nothing we can do about it.

Now i am not trying to tell people how to be a fan or saying you are not a proper fan because you have concerns, we all do. All I mean is lighten up, enjoy the ride, you never know. This may be our best chance at the title for 20years. God forbid, touch wood and all that :censored:.

Come on red men.

The thing I can't understand about the contracts for the backroom staff, is why I even know about it. Why are the "10 or 12" assistants contracts in the media? You don't see Wenger in the press talkign aboutn the fella who drives the team bus's contract, or Gary Megson on about his reserve team physio.

Surely, those "12 assistants" understand that their fate is linked like an umbilical chord to the manager. If he goes, they're gone anyway so what on eath would the club be doing giving them all contracts at this stage? For all the club know, the call could come next week and Rafa could feck off to Real Madrid leaving the club with a dozen contracts at 100 grand a year over four years to pay off (5 million quid).

Now I know people will talk about job security and the like, providing for familes and stuff but lets get real here. These people are on large salaries compared to people in the real world, and they work in professions where personel are hired and fired and paid off on a regular basis. If they decide to feck off to be a physio at Werder bremen or wherever, because they aren't confident that rafa will sign a new deal at Liverpool then I'm afraid that's life. Their job is intrinsicly linked to to the success of the manager, and by definition the team. If they aren't confident enough to invest in either, rather than moaning about it we would be better advised heeding the warning.

Whichever way you look at it though, this sort of thing should't be even talked about to the press.

John, I know what you mean. Sometimes I come on here and only want to talk such talk.

But I guess, it's a discussion board, and so people will "generate" talk on all sorts of different topics.

I suppose it's a case of self censorship - just peruse the threads that take your fancy. I guess everyone will get more focussed
when the games start again.

Rafa must take much of the blame
He was either naive or stupid to attack Parry, the yanks, Fergie etc in public.
I have always prided myself on my club doing things the right way.
So much so that I have laughed my plums off at cockneys, mancs and bluenoses for the way their clubs have behaved in public.
I can't do this anymore
Rafa needs to shut his trap and get on with his job:
Managing the greatest ever football club in the history of the game

Please...

mate, it's called passion for what people believe in. i for one will never hide my hatred for the yank tw@ts & what they stand for. ffs they have tried to bu11sh1t,decieve,& make a mockery of the club i love & that can never be suffered in silence!!

raffa- just said what thousands of LFC fans think towards parry,& the yank tw@ts,or should think-it's called "history" & when i hear fecking idiots like them three trying to take the p1ss out of our club & it's "history" in their behaviour then they deserve the critisisum that is aimed their way.

when we are shot of those three d1ckheads, then maybe raffa will be able to get on with his job!

I agree with the sentiment but not the logic
Let's not forget it was Moores and Parry who brought the yanks in

I honestly don't believe it's Rafa's job to be bringing private matters up in public.
It's the supporters, the fan's job to make our voices heard, not the manager's.
His job is difficult as it is. He doesn't need to add to it with distractions, name calling and mud slinging.
