Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Big Ben have you followed the "New Zidane" or the "Five Year Plan"
Where in the name of God are they?
The man has not got a clue and to coin an old Liverpool phrase =- he's"An old Tart" read into that what you want.
When was the last time he spoke to Heighway and vice versa When did he put a stop to one of our central backs shagging the wife of one of our full backs?, with obvious results. When did he stop the nightclub partying in Liverpool by the most big headed gang of no-marks the city's ever seen. He's just swopped one gang of spice boys for another.
£120,million and we still rely onplayers who cost nothing !!!!

I think that the talk about Cisse is all just another Houllier ruse to instill confidence.  He surely knows that if we don't get 4th place he's gone, infact he might go even if we do.  So Houllier is talking up his signing of Cisse to indicate he'll still be in charge.  If Houllier goes the decision to buy Cisse will fal to the new manager, the board will from the start want to give that person a war chest to buy who they want.  So Cisse fate depends on Houlliers fate.

If Houllier stays  Buying Cisse would show once again what a useless manager he is, unless he has Heskey lined up for a quick sale and knows Owen is leaving.  Why?

Let me explain.  Forward parterships depend on getting a balance or pace, strength, selfishness and selfless, movement, creativity, control and incisive movement.Aerial Ability
Great partnerships
Keegan-Tossack
Dalglish-Rush
Sutton-Shearer
Shearer- Bellamy
Sheringham-Shearer
Beardsley-Lineker
Henry-Bergkemp
Raul-Ronaldo
Hurst-Peters

All of these have balance,

Owen relies on his pace and movement and selfishness to score goals to continue this he needs the other qualities mentioned to be present in his partner ie Selfless, Strenght, control, aerial ability and creativity.  Sadly Heskey has these in patches= Inconsistency

Now compare Dalglish, creative, control, Selfless, incisive movement.  Rush Strong, pacey, incisive movement, aerial ability = Outstanding partnership.  There is overlap but thats fine its when none of the qualities are present that we have a problem.

Compare the rest of the parings mentioned and you can add other qualities but those listed above are the basic requirements for effective goal scoring. Yep some players have them all, Ronaldo at his best.

Cisse is Michael Owen with more strength and aerial ability. So who creates, who is Selfless who changes their game.  Baros is not an ideal partner to play with owen because he to lacks some of the qualities mentioned but he could work well with Cisse.  That throws up a simple question, has Houllier resigned himself to losing Owen in which case Cisse could be a good replacement to partner Baros.

Cissé is a great player, but he lacks experience again and he's not a Zidane.

His profile is near of Henry, he has all qualities to impose himself in England.

I see him every weekend in France and I can tell you he's one of the best attacking of our championship. Nothing to see with Diouf, Diao or other bad frenchies.

In the same club, there is certainly the best young French defend, Philippe Mexès. He looks like Laurent Blanc in the style of game.

I'm happy for us to buy Cisse but i'm worried about the price. Will there be any money left for other players e.g. centre-half, Right winger? Who is signing Cisse? Is it GH or Parry/Moores - I don't believe GH will be here next season - Will we go ahead and sign Cisse without GH?

The last comment is an encouraging thought. I hope you are right,  seeing you watch the french league often and know about Cisse.

but how much comparison does playing in France bear with playing in England?!?!?!?! I hear Cheyrou was brilliant in France, Diouf and many others too. They have all been disappointing to say the least.

Cherou is a good player but not a great player, nothing to see with Cissé. It's the same problem with Pascal Cygan (Arsenal), he's only a good defenser. Diouf-Cygan-Cherou-Diao same fight.

The French championship is closed more that in England, Henry nerver scored as many goals in France. I'm sure Cissé can succeed in your championship.

Sorry for my English.  :(

What do you think about Marseille ?

Wasn't that impressed on Thursday, thought you were lucky to come away with a point. Should be close in the return leg, could go either way. With any luck we'll leave Houllier behind in France

Not a bad side, although i thought they would have done better in the French league this year and challenge for the title, Drogba is a very good player and Mido has talent which he showed at Ajax but has yet to display in France really. Should be a good return leg, no more than one goal in it in the end i would think, hopefully the Pool can do it!

Houllier is a s##t, we know it since a long time in France.

You have luck, this year Marseille is hopeless. Before Liverpool, we took 4-1 to Bastia with the same team. :D

Quite good side to me, Drogba caused us too many problems, I was quite impressed with him. Marlet could have score against us.

Drogba is a very big player this season, the better of Marseille. Mido is very disappointing.
