It caused a bit of consternation last week when I added this bit, but I'll say it again. Anyone who can't see that he is playing absolutely terrible is either clueless or looking through the rosiest of rose tinted spectacles.

All that said, I still think he's our best option on the right of midfield. Perhaps thats the problem.

You don't think benayoun or johnson can do a better job than him as a rw?

Maybe...the way the team is playing....its better to go 3-2-3-2 formation with johnson & auerlio as wingbacks.

Seeing the form of Pacheco for the Ressies, I reckon he'd slot right in for Kuyt any day of the week. The lad is on fire this season, easily the best player at that level.
The longer RB refuses to give him and others either a first, or more, games for the first team, the more likely it is they will become disillusioned and decide to a) move, or b) their form will drop.

Agreed and I love him, but he seriously needs to be dropped  in place of Benayoun and Reira on the left. Until we get some winning formula going.

But you've just advocated playing him upfront because he did well for Holland there.  ???

Yes if Torres is not playing and we play with two wingers and not in our own half passing it along the back 4 like a gang of crabs.

You could have the worlds greatest attacking right mid - Messi playing for us but still wouldnt stop us conceeding goals which is the main reason we are loosing/drawing games . We are still scoring goals but letting in too many . The point was raised by a number of people on this thread but ignored to able the blame to be put firmly on Kuyt and Rafa. As for comparing him to other right mids in the league - yes they may have more skill, pace and more step overs but have all contributed less towards their respective teams in terms of end product .

What about Aquilani on the right wing? put Kuyt on the bench and keep him as a ball runner-down pressure sub.

Hey it works well in FIFA10, perhaps we should give Rafa a copy to test it out :D

Who do you have in midfield then, Lucas? the miracles of FIFA10 eh  :D

He'll continue to use a 4-5-1 formation even with strikers that are clearly not up to the job and against teams that it shouldn't be used against. He'll continue to use zonal marking to defend set pieces, even that the goal leakage has suggested that it is clearly not working. He'll continue to buy average or terrible players. He'll continue to make extremely dodgy decisions, be it in substitutions, setup or player choice...and he'll continue doing things his way, until he walks, is sacked or the team is an absolute shambles and we end up in the bottom half of the table.

I know this isn't yet another thread about the manager, but the problem is not Dirk Kuyt, it's Raphael Benitez.

The problem IS "Dick Kuyt"....and Benitez! :veryangry

Yes Kuyt is the reason why we keep letting in goals which turn wins into draws or defeats

no but he is the reason why we have feck all creativity down the right hand side, why opposition defenders find it oh so easy to defend against us.

Yet we are third top scorers in the league and kuyt so far has 4 goals and 5 assists this season .

How the hell does that happen if we are so poor in attack ?

Do the sums you clown - maybe its another area that is not working - ie leaking in goals through the back four - taking the lead and then loosing it and then letting in another and then having to score to get a draw .

The defence is waht is really fecking us up this year and the stats are their for all to see.

Yet its Kuyts fault .
