I think Fabregas is the best player in the league at the moment.

What about Lucas?

Now that Gerrard is injured and Torres is playing with painkiller......... Shouldn't the "best right winger in BPL today" step up and contirbute more attacking wise for the team ?

He seems to be going back to the dark old days of season 2007/2008......

For me what best describes Kuyt is a mad dog that runs a lot whenever it sees a ball but when it gets the ball does not really know what to do with it? Occasionally the ball will bounce of his foot & into the back of the net.

Never been a fan of Kuyt no matter how much hard work this guy puts in. How can such an ungraceful player come out of Holland the land of total football??

Completely agree. I've been dissappointed with him this season so far, he hasn't got close to the form of last season. I'd like to see him step up and lead a bit more given most of our other senior players are injured or suspended, and he seems to have redeveloped that reluctance to have a shot on goal in recent games. It's annoying because I've always backed Kuytie quite heavily. Maybe his Dad died again. :D

As usual we consider a players form without any thought of the players he's linking up with which clearly makes no sense. He looked at his best when he was playing regularly with Arbeloa (a very intelligent and underrated player in my opinion), Gerrard and Torres. He hasn't developed a complete understanding with Johnson yet, he clearly wasn't on the same wavelength as Carra on Wednesday and he's had to play in a few different positions. But, I'd like to see more from him, at the minute he's doing a lot of running around with little end product ( I normally hate posts that say that about him!). I think he's maybe got bypassed a bit because we've been :censored: in so many other areas.

How can Rafa possibly justify playing Kuyt when he's in bad form? Why not give Babel a run in the team? Not 20mins here and there but a good run of games.

It's one of those things that really irks me about Rafa, persisting with players in poor form and subbing those who aren't.  Sorry that's two :p

Good post - Kuyt is defintly a Liverpool squad player ,would dare to say our hardest worker, but his form this season is poor and in the least deserves a benching for a game or two ,Rafa's stubborns is displayed once more with this persistance on opening with Kuyt.

Besides Gerrard and Torres Kuyt is the last player Rafa will ever bench. No matter how poor Kuyt is he will play and rarely even get subbed. Has always been like that and will always be like that, form or no form.

true, but Kuyt is really dependant on other players.

I would say he is the best player in the league to pick up rebounds and put them in the net with whatever bodypart.

But he does not create rebounds for other teammates to put in.
He can not create something out of nothing lke Benayoun, he can't make that defense splitting pass like Gerrard and he can't make a shot into the far corner on a beautiful shot like Torres.

Even the biggest Kuyt fans in this forum have to agree that he has gone back to his dark days of not really contributing anything to the team except running around like forest gump.....

Having a sole forward tonight with 2 holding midfield players against a team 1 point from the dropzone is bad enough......Add Kuyt as the right winger and boy.....is it really a wonder why we didn't thrash Birmingham ?

The game was crying out for a bit of invention and threat up front..... and we couldn't provide it.

Anyway...moving on.....I think a pacy right winger/forward, who has a good 1st touch, can put in more than decent crosses in..and can chip in with his fair share of goals should be one of the "must have" in January (if we are gonna go on a incredible run to win the league) or at least in the summer (if next season is "the" year :p ).

I am not saying get rid of kuyt ....... We should keep him as he is quite versatile. He can play as a striker partnering torres or be a backup the right winger..... So he will still have a part to play.
