Dirk Kuyt is not a top striker, he is a hard working player for his team, but not always fruitful, he is very wasteful with his passing, his goal scoring rate is very low, Benitez had paid for him well over the top. I don't think he worths a first choice team selection, a squad player, yes he will do. I do not expect him to score many goals from open play.

As for Voronin, I think he is not only a very average, but he is a disgrace to LFC, and he should never be a first choice player ahead of Bable, Crouch, Benayoun, he does not deserve the LFC's shirt he is wearing, before, his joining LFC while he is still playing in Germany, I quationed Benitez wisdom in bringing to LFC, I really doubt Benitez managing capability as being top class manager, do you every think that Fergauson or A. Wanger will go for a player like Voronin, he will not even get into Chelsea, United, Arsenal reserves, this just show you how much the standard of LFC has been in decline since Holliuer and Benitez. On Sunday those two first choice strikers did not manage one shoot on goal between them, does not matter what position they played in that match, they were two front men a long with Torres, where you can see he is not fit, and it was pointless to play him, and because of this outing, he is missing for a least a month, and this is down to our genius Benitez (as some LFC fans call him).

I see someone said he could be our 'Luca Toni' if his in the box more.  Thats a joke.  Luca Toni is a quality finisher and a good footballer.  Kuyt is neither.

That was me, im a fan of the Italian way of football and think a Luca Toni type player would be brilliant at our club. I like Kuyt as a player but yes his techniques is not good enough but I do think if he where to play higher up the pitch he would get goals and alot of them! Obviously wont be as good Luca Toni or Vieri but he would score.

Kuyt WAS a top striker when he played in Holland. He was one of the most prolific strikers in Holland at the time.

I know Holland is an inferior league, but if you have an eye for goal it does not matter where you play, Just look at Ruud Van Horseface, who was also prolific in Holland.

In my opinion, any goal threat / instinct this guy had, has been coached out of him by the demands put upon him by Benitez by playing so deep as a supporting striker. Play him as he has been used to ffs as an out and out striker!!

I do not want him to work hard for the team, we have other players to do that for us ..............Masha, Sissoko e.t.c. we want Kuyt to score goals, that is what he is a striker, a centre forward, a goal scorer!!

Sorry, mate, but I don't buy that for a minute.  Just as you can't teach a striker to have the instincts to score goals, you can't coach that out of him either.  I've seen very little from Kuyt to suggest that he has, or has ever had, a natural instinct for goals.  I can't say that for certain having never watched him play in Holland but I'm fairly confident that he would still struggle to score for us even if he played off the shoulder of the last man.

I think the problem with Kuyt is he tries too hard. Back in Feyenoord he was the big fish in a small pond, thing he is not in Liverpool. His style has not changed since he was Holland, he had to do everything there like back tracking, geting the ball from midfield and then trying to score the goals himself, which is why the fans loved him. He is a very commited player but he is trying to do more than he is supposed to and I believe that is hurting our game. When he back tracks to get the ball back he technically stops us from attacking since he is the one who should be recieving the ball from midfield to score goals, not trying to run from midfield towards goal (he has no pace to do so). I think if Kuyt sticks to the basics and gets the idea that "he is at a better team now and he doesn't have to do other players work for them" through his thick skull, we will finally see what he is capable of.

Yes, sir I am afraid you are correct. Kuyt is just cheap high street tat such as an item one would purchase at Primark or dare I say it, Matalan.

If you want more for your money then you an item from Debenhams or Gucci, you don’t buy a Kuyt sitting in the window of Primark when you can buy Henrik Larsson from Gucci.

I think in Feyenoord , the team played for Dirk kuyt , thats why he managed to score quite alot of goals , but at Liverpool he need to play for the team , he need to play harder and it is more tougher, so with less quality as a player you will struggle to get goals. Even in the dutch national team , he is played on the right where he plays very much like he play for liverpool , running around making space for other players to score .

I don't understand why Benitez bought kuyt , was it to score goals or to create goals . Because I can only see him scoring goals *based on his day in Feyenoord* but i can't see him creating goals cause he does not have the capabilities and to do that , yet it seems that Benitez wants him to create goals by the way he's being played on the team.

Fair enough the lad runs around like a headless chicken, but if that's the case then lets spend 10 million on Robbie bleedin Savage and bung him up front for Liverpool Football Club. I'm not laying all blame on Kuyt because I can safely say that at least 10 players in our current 1st team squad are not good enough for a lesser side in the championship, never mind one the best teams in Europe.

I'd love to see what Arsenal would have done with Kuyt. Wenger was an admirer but decided the price tag was too high (as had Rafa the previous Season).

Wenger tends to be able to spot talent as we have seen. He was so interested in Kuyt he personally flew over (using a plane despite what the media would have you believe thesedays) to watch him playing for Feyenoord.

oh well he must be great then, i must have the missed the part where he looks like a quality footballer     

mick we bought him and he is gash. if we bought him as an out and out striker and we are not playing him there then thats something else we can criticise rafa for because the position he has him in is neither good for us or good for the player
