Rafa needs to stop treating these games as walkovers, and Bigmick needs to stop saying how easy its going to be. Every time he says that we struggle :D

Don't talk rubbish.

We  were very lucky. Scraping it against bottom of the league teams is just not good enough regardless of the result. Gerrard and Torres both scoring for us. Two key match defining players that can change a game. Just proves that Rafa was right with his statement earlier in the week by saying the difference between us and the other top 3 was that they've more of these match winning players. I don't blame Rafa. He's doing the best with what was and is available to him. If any dead wood should be shifted out, it should be several players (you know who they are) along with that wanker Dick Parry, who has held us back at least 15 years, and the the owners. If they don't realize that they need to allow Rafa to sell and buy at least2 more of these aforementioned players, then they can go and get f*cked.

err whatever u said , sell carson ,voro , crouch , aurelio and keep kewell , kuyt and riise . riise showed today why he is a better player and one of the best left backs in the pl . we need a top draw striker and a quality winger who can operate on either wings . Robben is a ideal player but i don't think we can get him , a cheaper option but operates only flank each are gabby abghlor and  young

Agreed...Riise is a good LB. He is fast enough...good in the air. He is way better than Auerlio.

Can't believe ppl were wanting to get rid of him.....

Like i said....if we sign the next maldini then by all means lets get rid of riise...until then...he should stay.

i aint a fan of riise. I think his been poor this season but at the same time Aurelio is poor.

Riise has been lackluster, and I think that's a fair word to use. He's OK, but OK isn't great. We've had the best of him, time to let go. Aurelio isn't a bad player. Certainly no worse than Riise. The thing is, he hasn't had the time that Riise has had, so it's unfair to say he isn't good enough. I'd keep him and shift out Riise. We'd get more money for him.

i don't think rafa treated this as a walkover at all saint... the team he fielded was strong enough... look at what man u fielded... it's similarly not the best team but not a very bad team...

we were just very complacent and lazy after we went ahead...

you were right about bigmick though...  :D

Don't know what to say exactly. Happy with the 3 points, but for the performance? Almost had me get a heart attack. That's how we can play? Against a bottom team? RIDICULOUS

At the end of the day one way of looking at this is that we won away and we won ugly. Something which previously we would have struggled to do so its not all doom and gloom. We have scored a lot so far so a few games like this is expected.

For a Brazilian, Auerlio sure can't pass and Babel was aweful at the wing!!! The only saving grace was the 3 lucky points...thank god for Gerrard. Second best (and nearly loss) against the bottom team who can't score at home that's saying something...I wonder what was in Rafa's thoughts...  :veryangry

Dude..u echo my points.

For Gerrard to play to his potential, he needs Mash behind him.

For me babel is a waste of money...I know ppl here are saying give him time...but my thoughts are he is not good enough. Maybe he could make a good striker (but he has to play there for me to have an opinion about him)..but rafa keeps playing him on the wings...and babel keeps doing a "sissoko"

If Rafa hadn't bought Lucas (8 million) and Babel (11 million)...we could have bought a 19 million star player....but rafa decided to buy quantity instead of quality..and now he is saying we need to buy more 20 million players ???

How about getting rid of the deadwood 1st ? I mean balance the
books before buying. The owners already have enough problem paying for the stadium....

Is this due to rafa's instruction ?

its happened to often which suggests to me that rafa still does not have it in him to just go for teams and score as many as possible.  His cautious.  Always has been and wont change.

thinking that we could just cruise past Derby again and put the players on battery saving mode...how lame is that?  :no

2 questions...

1)  Who do you consider to be the deadwood?

2)  What is your definition of 'deadwood' in this context?
