I heard a report that David Johnson had a heart-attack last weekend, whilst coaching in Singapore. He is only 52,so it's come as a big shock.Has anyone any more information on how he is doing.

he spent a few days in hospital in Singapore, he was told he needs an operation to clear a blocked artery and decided to have the op done in england, he was discharged from hospital and went back to his hotel for a few days before he returned to england

I met Dave last year in Kuala Lumpur when they wrere here for the veterans game, i think he was one of the organisers but he never got to play, he put a little bit of weight on. i had a good chat with him at the press conference and he's a funny guy, typical scouser, as soon as he heard my scouse accent he was happy to chat about everything.

get well soon dave

Sad is'nt it when you think of all our past hero's who played football for little financial rewards, banana asks if Owen is worth £80.000 a week.  Well if it means players getting money to secure their future the I for one agree.  Case, Smith, Hughes, Johnston and Kennedy should all be millionaires.  The directors and fat cats got rich when these men earned the glory.

Johnson was a British record transfer fee wasnt he? It is strange to think of players like that scraping around south east asia just to make a living.Perhaps its gone too far in the opposite direction now,but players like David Johnson never got their proper share of the money from football.I remember the first time i saw him play,fa cup semi final in manchester in 1977.He was the most expensive player in Britain yet he was only used as substitute.Ironically he came on in place of supersub himself,David Fairclough.Ah,memories :D
