From Goal.com

Liverpool have been hit with the news that Daniel Agger faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking his hand on international duty.

The young centre-back did the damage in Denmark’s 4-0 win over Liechtenstein on Wednesday and is expected to be in plaster for up to five weeks.

With Sami Hyypia’s first-team involvement having been restricted due to the good form of Agger, the news will come as a blow for manager Rafa Benitez.

Agger has impressed in the Reds defence and scored one of the goals of the season with a long-range strike against West Ham.

Any news on Carra then? Worst case scenario Carra and Agger can't play.....Does that mean we risk Aurelio?

He was quite angry with being subbed early but he accepts it.

great news if he's ok, but I had already slotted Alonso or Riise in as CB against Portsmouth and I'm not changing it now! :D

He played with a cast on his wrist or hand last season and he was fine.

I fully expect that he will play on the weekend.

And I :censored: hate international games. Pointless :censored:.

Benitez must have had a fortune teller. He could tell that we will be losing a central defender soon and got Alonso training at CB.

Do you guys think with modern football, we could play Alonso as a sweeper? Do you think Alonso is good enough? Given that Alonso and Sami are not fast defenders, sweeper system might be the way to go this weekend against Portsmouth.
