Danger of getting too carried away. - Robbie fowler "beetle mania" has landed.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

New poster here.

I've read all of the Fowler posts, since the news came through this afternoon that Anfield legend Robbie Fowler had signed on a free until the end of the season. But some of the posts I've read in here are hysterical beyond belief.

Saying that Robbie fowler is our saviour, like Jesus Christ has got to not be taken seriously.

You have to bear in mind that, although a goal poacher, he has put on a lot of weight since leaving LFC and aged by 10 years. I'm sorry , but No one on earth can turn the clock back.

If you guys think he is gonna start banging in 4 minute hatricks, like against Arsenal 10 years ago are having a larf.

I welcome the signing, not bad for "free" Rafa deals well, but Cisse is a lot younger and fitter than Robbie, Morientes is quality, and crouch has a lot going for him, so Robbie will have to be at his very best to displace them.

Me personally, a lot of people have a dig at Moro, but I think he is world class but often lacks the service to be able to show it.
I have to say, this afternoon at 6pm on the news, when I heard the news I was stunned. I personally think Owen would have been the better choice. to be honest fowler has not shown the kind of form he had at liverpool, since he left. I dont think has done enough to warrant a return.

Not all can be put down to what club you are at.

One thing I will say, Rafa will train him rigorously to get him into shape, a fit fowler gives him the best chance.

But me personally, I think he is spent !!!!!

You all need to get a grip. and perspective on the situation.

Look at Mike tyson for example, a shadow of what he was ten years ago. Like I said, no one can turn back the clock, NOBODY!

All Im saying is, if he does'nt start scoring prolificly, then dont start complaining.

So COME ON ROBBIE !

look mate i've said for ages on here, that i wanted Fowler back even if it was only 30 minutes a game.I have been convinced for ages that a move back to us would be the only thing that could possibly motivate him anymore,he certainly dont need the money.
If you look at his hat trick the other week and his goal against Manure coupled with some decent form in patches last season, the lad still has it.He now has the vehicle he wanted and needed to make a few people eat sh!t and i for one welcome him back with open arms.

You wanted him back, or Owen?

Interesting point, wearing the red shirt of Liverpool could well be THE factor that sparks something in him.

But when I watched him at leeds, and Man City for a while, he looked not even a shadow of himself.

Maybe it's because he can score v Man Utd? and knows how to jeer the crowd with 5 fingers?

Let Carragher play for some other team and see if he puts in the same performance like he does for us. The same with Robbie. Fowler never wanted to leave, and he never had the passion for Leeds or Man City like he did for LFC. There is a difference between the two.

I rather have even an unfit Fowler than Cisse.

Fowler..... i was gutted when he left and everytime i've seen the lad either for Leeds and Man city its never felt right. If you ask the fans who means more to this club between Fowler and Owen there is only one winner.Fowler for me is the best natural finisher this country has seen since Jimmy Greaves.Whether he plays a bit part i would still back the lad to score more than Cisse and Fernando put together.

I'll give fowler that credit............his finishing is something in a different class to CIsse, although Cisse is younger and fitter.
Fowler knows how to bury the ball in the net inside the box, which he demonstrated versus man utd, and not fluff it over the bar or wide! I just question his fitness.

If fowler is fit, my front two would now be Fowler and crouch.

Maybe crouch dropping off, or a front two with garcia behind.

Well I'm sure we'll see shortly just how much he has left.

Expect a cameo appearance Versus Birmingham on Wednesday Night.
I think now Cisse is history, expect his exit in June.

No I havent changed my mind.

I dont disregard his talent. whether his top level form still exists is a different matter. read my original post for more info.

:D

I feel sorry for the lad, returning back to anfield after 5 years or so, to the european champions. a daunting prospect for him now. it will feel strange in training for him. no neil ruddock or dominic matteo, mcallister etc.

remember fowler had to warm the bench as he played second fiddle to darius vassel and an aging andy cole. at the time of departure he wasnt a first team regular.

lets see if he can rise to the challenge.

??? Who are you like? Are you a bluenose in disguise?
Robbie Fowler is Jamie Carragher if not more he would die for Liverpool, he has always been a shadow of his former self because he never wanted to leave.
I remember the day he left I was feckin gutted broken hearted, the same as when Gerrard was going to Chelsea.
You have a certain raport with players that come from Liverpool when your a scouser ecspecially when you know them a bit, like Carra and Fowler its just something very special.
And makes it even sweeter he used to be a bluenose :D but would die for Liverpool.F.C.
I see Morientes come on that pitch he has got a pedigree of medals and cups, but he cannot ever want to give all for my club.

I wont get into the foreigners issue but you need a back bone of players born in the city that they play for.
You cannot feel the same passion being foreign and I dont care who you are you just cant.
It doesnt mean we dont love our foreign players we do, but money cant buy you love, and Michael Owen had the chance to come back to Liverpool for 10million and refused Robbie signs for free enough said really where Michaels priorities lie.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

REST IN PEACE PHIL, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

I dont think Robbie as the club's saviour , however the facts are he still a lethal player with proven experience who is still fairly young.
If any club can motivate him to regain fitness and get his hunger back in this one, there is alot motivation from how he left to do that in itself
He does bring something different to our forward line
He has arrived on a free transfer so there basically there aint really no risk and he also brings a boost to morale that you cant measure.
If the fairytale doesnt work, i dont think there will be too many recriminations considering what he did for club in his first spell.  Though if it does work, well it be one of cheapest and best bits of business that has been done

Cisse's pace
Crouch's height
Fowler's finishing

No I mean we should play him now that we have him!

What we already have is a joke anyway overall.

Cisse has done nothing to warrant a stay at Anfield, never mind a fecking return.

I Said he was another Heskey, I'd have heskey back for Cisse.  a swap deal to brum.

Drummerphil, i havent changed my mind.
