Crouch has scored so the press are bored - Gerrard is apparently not happy ! ! !

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Sabre » Sun Dec 04, 2005 11:09 pm

It's already started, I've read an hour ago an article about Benitez going to Real Madrid.

I can bet my house : That's not going to happen.

The media is predictable, when Liverpool is not well, they laugh, when Liverpool is great, they try to break our stability. I don't bloody care.

I also despise the big 3 concept. Here we have the big two, but they rival in titles and cups. How can you possibly consider a big 3 if the whole lot of that big 3 doesn't get half the euro titles we have. Pah.

As soon as Peter scored his first goal on Saturday, I turned to my mate and said:

1) I bet they try and take that goal off him

I think some have called that first goal of Crouch's an own goal by the goalkeeper which is ridiculous as the ball was already going in and he tried to tip it over the top of the net. An own goal is when you deflect the ball into your own net when the ball is going wide isn't it?

I think to be a journalist you have to have 'can't speak fluent sh.ite' on your CV, they won't be happy until they unsettle Stevie and he leaves us, then they'll move onto some other poor b3stard

The main reason why Stevie wanted to leave in the summer was cos he didn't feel wanted, now Rafa is moulding him into a coach/manager so if that not making him feel wanted and involving him I don't know what is

The facts are so simple. When a midfielder shoots a powrful ball, and it touches a defence changing it's trajectory, nobody doubts that the goal is of the midfielder. The fact that  Crouch's ball when touching the defender, takes an unusually high trajectory is irrelevant.

Then the keeper tries to block the shot, which is not easy, as this up  down balls never are, and he's a worse keeper than Reina and fails to do so. So we hava a strange trajectory and a cr+p keeper, but NEVER an own goal.

I think that it's difficult to defend the opposite.

In my book, an own goal is only so if the deliberate intervention of a defender or keeper has made the ball go in when it would otherwise have missed. Crouch's shot was clearly on target before it struck the defender so no problem there (and in any case, the defender didn't deliberately change the trajectory of the ball) and would obviously have gone in the goal unaided by the keeper.
That the goalkeeper was laughably incompetent is not in question. Just because he flapped at it though doesn't make it an own goal. Incompetence does not make an own goal, if it did then Diego Forlorn scored two less than he thinks he did for Manure because Dudek gifted him at least two against us.
Accidental and inadvertant deflections do not make own-goals. Nor do incompetent goalkeepers. If the ball had looped up and was going over the bar before the keeper fumbled it, then it's an own goal. As it is, it's Crouchino's.

That's what I thought. Rupert Murdoch's Fox Sports Active was trying to call it an own goal. Looks like all the official sources are calling it Crouch's though.

I'm glad the press attack LFC constantly.

It just gives the club more motivation to rub their faces in :censored: when we do well.

No one cared about LFC's progress in the CL last year. Oh no, it was about the Chelsea Revolution. We were lucky in every match. Until of course we disposed of them and shocked the world, by eventually winning it all.

Then the press were wetting themselves at the prospect of Gerrard joining the London Chelsea bandwagon, until of course he realised that like Sean Wright Phillips, he would be the benchwarmer.

Then they attacked Crouch for not scoring a goal, and the hysteria over it caused him to be booed by the England "fans". Until of course he scored two, but again according to the press, he only scored one.

Now, we are in the CL knockout stages. We will add to the team in January. We have surged up the table, conceding nothing and winning again and again and again and again....

And everyone is aware of the "Match Of The Day" treatment we've received.

So, London press, by all means, please continue your attacks.

It's working wonders for LFC.

The press make me laugh.  :D   Gerrard should be a Chelsea player (if they are to be belived) and hating Rafa's guts

Why don't LFC ban the press from Anfield, and any t*at who breaks this rule be held down by Rafa while the 1st team take turns to p*ss in their eyes? This would sort the b*tards out.

yeap the press is d problem we should be talking about them (and bash them abit) now since our internal problem has subsided.

The Press tried to manipulate Ciise and Rafa. Rafa spoke to Ciise and gave all instructions directly and very closely durin teh Wigan match. These will not be noticed but just because Rafa rested Ciise for one game the press started to say its because Ciise made disgruntled face.

Whatever nowadays I am very careful of the comments. Even during life commentary. The commentator sometimes make foolish comment. If anyone watches the reply of Liv and Wigan. The commentator at one point will say that "first yellow card" whereas the were players shown card earlier already.

I dont want to sound like a crying c.unt, but what the f.uck are these gobsh.ites paid for ?

RANT OVER

Is that it ? , One pin p'rick from Sky ? F'uckin' hell Leon get a grip .

For the first time in a very long time Gerrard is looking and sounding  very happy with his life , his football and the future of LFC.
Whilst the odd "reporter"scratching for a story to give his editor may try to stir things up , proper sports writers are already acknowledging and welcoming the fact that Rafa is building a team of serious contenders .At a recent press luncheon in London (attended by my son ) the overwhelming sentiment was that a resurgent Liverpool could only be good for the Premiership.

You can stop crying now .

:D

ps Mods also get a grip .The word P'rick is censored in here ?

It was in yesterdays Mirror as well, in the preview for our Champions league match.

The reporter stated that Gerrard has looked unhappy lately probably due to the fact he is playing on the right.

It is utter rubbish, i think the last few games he jas playing with a smile on his face and looked the happiest i have seen him on a football pitch for about 3 years.

It also stated that Real Madrid were monitoring the situation and would probably put a serious bid in, in January.
