Out on a limb time here. I think he's a good player. Talk of needing a bloke to come in and score 15 goals a season is wide of the mark in my view, It looks certain that Rafa's preferred front 2 will be Cisse and Morientes so what we actually need are a third and fourth choice striker. Torres, Annelka and the like aren't going to settle for that so unless the boss is looking to unload one of the other two, blokes like Crouch and Johnson will come into the frame if they can be got at the right price.
On the question of Crouch, I know he's a bit freaky looking but the lad can play. He's got good touch and can score you a goal. From the bench he would give you another option entirely to what we already have.
Just a final thought, if we DID sign Crouch AND Johnson and used them as our number two strike partnership when resting Cisse and Morientes, which front two do you suppose would provide the greater goal threat in the Premiership? Honestly now? I know if we are comparing class, ease on the eye etc there is no competition but I'm not asking that. Goal threat? Would Crouch and/or Johnson provide more than Morientes? Unless Nando has a good old rest over the Summer, works hard in pre-season and comes back a totally different player I know where my money would be.
