I said it would ruin their attacking options, which it clearly would. Cesc operates at his best futher up the field and if he played more defensive, Arsenal would still need to sign someone to play Cesc's role.

Cesc only gets a chance to play short balls because of the high tempo Arsenal play it, he is also more restricted because Arsenal play very narrow football, usually through the middle of the park. Liverpool do not play at a high tempo like Arsenal nor do you play as narrow as Arsenal, Xabi has the freedom with his passing as he can play square balls, short balls and long balls. He mopes up at the back when Sissoko or Gerrard fail to stop the attack and he delivers balls into the path of your widemen or sprays a hollywood ball to Crouch. This is not done with Cesc. Cesc may have the freedom to attack, he does not have the freedom to pass and this is in thick contrast to Xabi.

Don't Arsenal have Rosicky and Hleb?

Hleb seems to be used maily out wide and Rosicky has yet to gel with the team. Neither could do the job as effectively as Cesc anyway.

No they wouldn't, but I don't see how Cesc becoming the new Patrick Vieria of Arsenal will do him harm and Arsenal harm. I do not watch much Arsenal matches, so perhaps I am wrong, what is the usual Arsenal set up? Has it changed from last season at all?

I don't think Cesc will be the new viera of arsenal, I don't think he has excellent positioning and even excellent physical attributes to be like viera. You can compare Sissoko to Viera.

Cesc is more of a playmaker to me, like kaka.

You're forgetting that Cesc is only nineteen, I know it's easy to confuse him for someone in their mid twenties, because of his maturity and ability. I think at his young age he's showing more promise than Alonso, in time he will completely eclipse Xabi in terms of ability and intelligence, I'd have to say I'd much rather have Cesc in my team than Xabi. I believe Cesc will become similar to Gerrard as being an alround player.

As for Sissoko being Vieria, Rafa was off the mark, Sissoko is nothing like Patrick in terms of ability. Sissoko was a decent player at my club then he moved to you and has progressed nicely, but he will never be the player Patrick was, never. He isn't even a patch on a young Vieria. Sissoko is Sissoko, he's a bulldozer who will crush just about anything that gets in his way, he will never have the intelligence or the ability Patrick has.

I meant you can compare sissoko's physical attributes to viera's. I agree with you sissoko is a bull dozer! he has wonderful tackling and huge strength. Remember Sissoko is 22 he has time to improve on his technical abilities and his football intelligence. Actually he is good in positioning which makes him excellent in stopping niggly quick passes some teams like to play (i.e arsenal).

Cesc is 19, but it would take alot of time for Cesc to make him like Viera. I really don't think Cesc will be rated as a defencive midfielder or an all around player at all! Gerrard is an all around player coming from when he is young! he played right back when he just bursted into the scene with Liverpool. Cesc started as a natural attacking midfielder who is capable of becoming one of the leading playmakers in the world.

Yes, you can compare Sissoko and Vieria's build, both are lanky men who are built like a red brick terrace house. His tackling is decent, but he is a bit reckless to be comparing that part of his game to Vieria's. It will improve of course, but instead of heaping pressure onto Sissoko, why not let him build his own name instead of giving him such huge shoes to fill? I can't see him ever being as good as Vieria, I certainly can't see him being the player Vieria was, maybe he will, but Vieria at his young age was such a talent, his game was much better at twenty two than Sissoko's game is now. It's great to have confidence and belief in your players, but being realsitic is essential and it's an unrealistic trait to brand Sissoko in the same breath as Vieria. Sissoko's distribution is nothing like Vieria's. Sissoko was slated by us Valencia fans for that very reason of poor distribution.

We shall see about Cesc, maybe he will only ever be a playmaker, it's still possible to be covering large amounts of ground and still play make, Gerrard can do it, so I don't see why Cesc can't? Cesc will be an amazing player whatever the outcome and I think he will be more beneficial to Spain than Xabi.

Oasis are a good band, but what have they got to do with Cesc being better than Xabi? That's like comparing Reggie Kray to Pauline Fowler!

Think back to when Liverpool last won the league.

We had McMahon and Whelan in the middle. I dont think either had the class of Xabi, but they knew how
to scrap in the middle. And win games like Blackburn away...

We need BOTH centre mids to do the business.

There are too many people on here who like to wax lyrical about Xabi... I'm not blaming him.. I'm blaming
the way Rafa sets his team out.
We should be doing better with this squad.

People drone on about Ronaldinho's freekicks for Barcelona, no one ever concentrates on Ruben Baraja, the best deadball finisher in La Liga.

Great finish, by Ruben!

Oh how I've missed you.

Ronny wrote:I don't think he is, Alonso is a superb player, he'll walk into any side in the world, but he is no where near as good as Fabregas. I bet Barcelona felt sick when they saw Fabregas explode onto the scene with Arsenal. He is a much more exciting player than Alonso is. I preferred Xabi when he had the freedom to roam, his game has been restricted by being the new Dietmar Hamann of your team. For this reason and the reasons of Cesc looking more comfortable and natural on the ball than Xabi means that Cesc is and will be just that bit better than Xabi.

Cesc will keep Xabi out of the Spain squad, you'll see, he is already a much better passer than Xabi, he will only widen the gulf between himself and Xabi.

This post is the biggest pile of horse p*ss I have ever ever seen.

Fabregas is a very good player, but he isn't fit to lace Alonso's boots, you uneducated penile disorder.

Fabregas "a better passer" than Xabi Alonso!?! Are you on f*cking DRUGS, you imbecilic rectum-rustler? Xabi is the best passer of the ball walking planet Earth, you unbelievably stupid c*nt. Cesc is good, but to suggest he's a patch on our lad is f*cking ridiculous, and serves only to show you up for the snivelling pile of jackass jizz you truely are.

As for Xavi - he's better than the Arsenal man, but is STILL not as good as Alonso, as you well know, you snidey little bed-sore-biter. He wouldn't know a tackle if it got up and gave him a hand-job.

Come back when you've stopped using your jap's eye as a mouth.

Tw*t.

You need to lay off those bifta's pal.

Cesc Fabregas will never in a million years be anywhere near as good as Patrick Viera.

He doesn't have the defensive side, and is too lightweight even in attack.

It's like comparing....

Alonso and Xavi. You tool.
