Wanted manu just to knock them out and play Barca in the final.....so I'm very disappointed with the draw.

Still we get to wear the Red shirts in Rome ,so it's not all bad.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW SHINING AT THE END OF EVERY DAY.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW AND TOMORROW IS JUST A DREAM AWAY.

Great we got chelsea again how fun cant fecking wait!!!! Fecks sakes man the chelsea games are quite boring really didnt want to draw them. We have a tough draw and possibly if we go through a semi clash with barca..
Mannure get an easier draw which was expected. Anyhow i think its better we face good side en route to the final. We play better against the top sides!

Exciting stuff, but I'd rather have drawn them other w@nkers are rubbed their noses in it by completely f*cking their season. I'd have no doubt Fergie would have literally sh*t himself had he seen us drawn against them after that spanking last week. As it is, those c*nts seem to have a knack of getting an almost gimme to progress through the stages. For once, why the f*ck couldn't they have drawn a team on form? Still, you never know: Porto could end up being a nasty banana skin for them. Doubt it, though.

I think there is definatley an element of fear from Chelsea's part due to 1) our past record with them in this comp and 2) our form against them and other top teams this season.

However I think the term bricking it maybe a tad strong. They have renewed confidence thanks to Drogba and Essien back plus Hiddink seems to be working for them.

Despite that you can never bet against us over a 2 leg tie. We only slipped up last year thanks for an own goal so we just need to make sure we do a good job at home this time. Im talking 3-0.....so we can go there and get them to come at us allowing us to finish the job.

Anyone hear Rafa after the draw?

Basically saying Utd are favourates. At one point he asked "I dont know who is doing the draw, but they have a good....(inaudible)"

Benitez: Liverpool will boot Chelsea out of the Champions League but United are favourites

Rafa Benitez has warned Chelsea that Liverpool will dump them out of the Champions League - but he insisted that Manchester United are favourites to retain the trophy.

The English giants must prepare for another European showdown after meeting in three semi-finals in the past four years.

Liverpool won the first two matches to deny Chelsea a place in the final, although the Blues took revenge last season before losing to Manchester United in Moscow.

But Benitez, whose side are at home for the first leg, insists his side will prove too strong for their Barclays Premier League rivals when they collide next month.

'Hopefully it won't make a difference to us that the second leg is away,' he said. 'We have to think about the first game at Anfield with our fans behind us and look to get a positive result to take to Stamford Bridge.

'We need to make sure we don't make a mistake in the first leg like we did in last year's semi-final. They will be two tough games but we are playing well and clearly we are confident we can win.'

Benitez, who signed a new five-year deal this week, has guided his side to two victories over Chelsea already this season.

'We've done the double over them this season in the league but clearly these two games in the quarter-finals will be different,' he said.

'At this stage of the competition, you know you'll play against a good team. Chelsea are a very good team.

'We know each other very well and this is an exciting draw. We knew it would be difficult to avoid an English team but we need to approach the two games with confidence.'

United will face Porto in the last eight and Benitez expects them to storm to the final again.

'United are clearly favourites - I don't know who is doing the draw!' he joked. 'They have a better draw than us.

'If you get to the final you know you have to  play the best teams but we have the most difficult teams in our side of the  draw. We will see what happens, my idea is to always talk about one game at a time so Chelsea first and after that we will see what happens.'

Liverpool have welcomed the news that the second leg at Chelsea will not take place on April 15 - the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

'It is a huge relief and a good outcome,' said chief executive Rick Parry.

Just bored with the predictability of it all, mate.  We get all the hype of the CL draw build-up only to see us paired with Chelsea AGAIN and the Mancs handed the softest draw of the English clubs AGAIN.  I have all the confidence in the world that we can win this thing, don't get me wrong, I'm just a little bemused about how these draws always seem to run along predictable tracks.  Anyways, if there's a silver lining it's that maybe the Mancs will take their eye off the ball in Europe given their relatively easy draw and the Gooners will humble them.

And you and bungle's comments serve no purpose whatsoever, probably reflects the people making them..................

ooooooohhhhh handbags.   :rasp

Surely you have some hugely convoluted stats on the relevancy of posts.

oh and the day early for the fixture is a bit of a mickey take as well, in fact I think it's slightly disrespectful  :no

Man Utd vs Porto : P4 W1 D2 L1 F6 A3 (Won 25.00%)
Arsenal vs Villareal : P2 W1 D1 L0 F1 A0 (Won 50.00%)

Liverpool vs Bayern Munich : n/a ***
Liverpool vs Barcelona : P4 W1 D1 L2 F3 A5 (Won 25.00%)

Chelsea vs Bayern Munich : P2 W1 D0 L1 F6 A5 (Won 50.00%)
Chelsea vs Barcelona : P8 W3 D2 L3 F14 A15 (Won 37.50%)

Arsenal vs Porto : P4 W2 D1 L1 F6 A2 (Won 50.00%)
Man Utd vs Arsenal : n/a
Man Utd vs Villareal : P4 W0 D4 L0 F0 A0 (Won 0.00%)

And possible finals involving current QF sides that have been finals in the European Cup

2008 Man Utd 1-1 Chelsea
2006 Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal
1999 Man Utd 2-1 Bayern Munich
1987 Porto 2-1 Bayern Munich

Villareal have never reached the final. Despite winning the most European Cups of all the remaining teams, Liverpool have never played any of the others in the final.

That bolded bit, us against Chelsea record, - you cant get any closer can you?

I wouldn't let the league games influence these ties - Hiddik is a massive factor into their equation.

*** We played Bayern in 1984 Semi's - 0-0 at home, 1-1 away.

Bob - I love that sig of Torres scoring.

I can just sit there with me cuppa tea watching it. Love that "5" gesture he did.

Would be nice if he could do a "6" in Rome.

Ive had a look at a few Chelsea forums and they are not happy about playing us. Not because its Liverpool again but because of our team.

BTW has anyone got any odds yet about who is favourite to go through, surely we have to be favourites to go through?

I know, mate--it's brilliant.  I tell ya, I scoured the net for hours looking for it and had to do all of this tweaking just to get it into the right format but it was all....

Nah, I just lifted it from S@int! :D

this is one of the worst draws possible. Not just that we are at home first and that Chelsea can be dangerous on their day, but United gets Porto        not only that, but United get to play either Arsenal or Villareal     both teams are not anywhere near as good as Barca
