Cisse for defoe?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm not saying Defoe is better than Cisse either. But it seems that Rafa no longer sees Djibril in a first team role at Liverpool, which is a decission that I'm still not 100% with. But if he goes for another striker and flogs Cisse, Defoe might be a natural choice because he is more of an all rounder. If that is the sort of player that the manager wants, it then becomes an issue of class and availability. I don't think we could tempt Eto'o from Barca, nor Shevchenko from Milan, so we can assume that we need to target individual stars in lesser teams that could still cut it at our level. Defoe, Kuijt, maybe someone like Saviola or similar. Who's in the market? Who can we afford? Who fits the bill?

Saviola hasn't lived up to the hype, and he's still with Monaco where he's done rather feck all in a while.

I really don't know who we'll buy, but imo Cisse will be kept until the summer.

That should be a very good buy.. Cisse had spent enough time on the bench and it's time he move off, maybe to Spurs so that DeFoe can be exchange for free.. But don't you think that Eidur Gudjohnson is much muc better..??.. My 2 cents..

i love djibril cisse, but at least defoe is english. Thats important when playing in europe, to have english lads in the squad. i hear that uefa will be streamlining even more the number of foreigners in each team, so a good english base for lfc would be good to implement now. imo

Defoe is a good player but he is too selfish, but on saying that he is also still young and Rafa could mould him into a great striker as he has the potential :)

Just depends on how much Spurs would want. ???

If there was any chance of this deal happening i would jump at it.

Defoe is by far a superior player to Cisse....he is english as well, which could be handy with any future rule changes.

The lad has skill in abundance, decent pace a good strike and although he is definately selfish (not a bad thing in a striker imo) he is more than capable of linking attack to midfield.

No doubt in my mind that he would be a brilliant signing.

Imagine getting him and Pennant...two of Englands most promising young talents.

I wouldn't take it, defoe isn't enough of a team player and he doesn't set others up.

I'd love to see O*** back at anfield, he'd do well with all those balls we knock into the box - feed of crouch and garcia.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are:

1) What is this Kiwi Kopite Guy upto ?

2) Is he on a wind up ?

3) Whats the point in this thread?

4) Should I have a Bacon and Egg or Sausage and egg on toast for 11's

5) Should I start a thread later entitled "Shevchenco or Cisse" and with just two lines:
I saw Shevchenko on the tele and I think we should swap him for Cisse

6) Is Championship Manager real life ?
