Cisse breaks leg - May never play again

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby kazza » Thu Jun 08, 2006 7:47 am

I woke up this morning to see pictures of Cisse breaking his leg and this time it was the right leg. Looked horrible once again. He was running and his leg just snapped. I have got to say, I was happy he was leaving and although now this changes our next season because we will have to eat the loss (unless there is an insurance payout), but I really feel gutted for the player.

He has been in this position before so he may have the will to come back, but somthing must be wrong with his bones because as last time, it was not a particularly strong challange.

I do feel bad for the guy.

Found this on the CNN site of all places.

Agony as striker Cisse breaks leg

World Cup 2006 ST-ETIENNE, France -- France striker Djibril Cisse is out of the World Cup after breaking his right leg in Wednesday's 3-1 warm-up win over China, said coach Raymond Domenech.

"He is undergoing surgery. It's a vicious blow to all of us", Domenech told reporters.

The striker was injured in a clash with a Chinese defender 10 minutes into his team's last match before they fly out to Germany on Thursday.

Cisse was taken away on a stretcher and received treatment on his right leg for several minutes before going to hospital.

The Liverpool forward was expected to start France's opening World Cup game against Switzerland in Stuttgart on Tuesday.

Domenech added he would mull "all possibilities" regarding a possible addition to the squad.

According to FIFA regulations, France have until June 12, the day before their first World Cup match against Switzerland in Stuttgart, to replace an injured squad member.

The 24-year-old Cisse, reportedly in line for a summer move back to France with Marseille, Lyon and Paris St Germain all suitors, has made 30 appearances for France and scored nine goals.

Despite winning the European Cup and FA Cup in two seasons at Liverpool he has struggled to settle at Anfield.

hi kazza,

dont worry about fission, hes obviously an alter ego. jonnymac started a thread about the break and others also added to the origional cisse thread so this one may not get many replies

I feel sorry for him but im more worried about how this will affect our next striker buy.

I dont know if there is a clause in his contract if he really can never play again but i cant see any team paying more than 6 Mil for him with that sort of risk. We would probably have to send him on loan first with a view to make it permanent like we did with Mark Gonzalez.

He seemed to fall the same way as he did when he done his leg in against Rovers.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

What the hell happened? I've seen the video and it's looks like it just snapped. Very strange injury. Gutted for him. If anyone hasn't seen it, check the link below.

Damn, looked pretty bad.  Another one to argue about whether it was the shoes fault or not.  It seemed like the studs got stuck to the ground too much instead of giving way.....

Depends if he ever plays again. I can't see him rushing back from this one. He'll do anything to stay at Anfield. LOL.
All the best Djbrill and hope for a speedy recovery!!!
