St Mike

Fair comment   but you have to admit that Rafa can get the best out of ANY player so in theory he COULD be better!!!!

:eyebrow

I will remind you of this throughout the season    hopefully     :D

Cissé is a good striker but also he can play on the right of midfield. Owen is a scorer, cisse is a scorer and a player that sets up goals.

I'm not having a go at Cisse, I just think that £14m was WAY WAY over the odds for him.

Obviously Cisse is lightning, but methinks he sometimes looks slower as there is a difference between running with the ball and running without the ball. His touch isn't the best, so it appears to slow him down a bit. :(

He's also not what I'd call a "natural finisher". This season has been evidence of this, despite the goals he has scored.

i completely agree with you- although maybe his injury and time out, and all the transfer talk has affected him. He does seem to blast his shots rather than placing them which 9 times out of 10 either miss or go straight at the keeper.

Fingers crossed he can calm down a bit and scroe the goals as he our best chance this season (unless Crouch surprises a few people and continues his run of form from last season)

Cisse has so much potential and with a bit of fine tuning could be absolutely devastating.
I agree with the last post about using different types of finish, he can tend to go for the blasted finish too often.
But he takes up some great positions and is far quicker than Owen now.
I say get Rushie working on his movement and finishing for a few months and we could have a world beater.

Owen has natural ability, but what made him so good was coupling that with training from the best...Rushie.  Before Rushie came in Owen was out of form (by his high standards).

Cisse has natural ability and it seems obvious to me that coaching from Rushie would be money well spent.  Does anyone know if Rushie is still around at Anfield/Melwood?  The guy's a legend.  He can only do good with Cisse.

Cisse is younger, HUNGRIER, faster, more aggressive, more committed, taller, stronger, harder shot, has more variety and most importantly has style !

(you wont see Djib doing a lame washing up Powder advert)

Owen = Boy Blunder who never grew up. "thanks Mum"

come on supersub. if you take the end of the 2000/2001 season, and the beginning of the 2001/2002 season, he scored something like 29 goals in 25 games for us.

i agree that the hatrick against germany also pleyed a major role but i'd say that 2001 was owen's best year for us.

Lots of people on here play down Owen's ability but their is no doubt in my mind that he'll be ONE of the top scorers come the May next year as he still has what it take although he is a different player now oposed to the young Michael Owen who had pace and could run at defenders.

Yeah , After watching "The Godfather" Rafa decided to make Owen and Madrid "an offer they couldn't accept "   :D
He comes out looking like Mr Kleen ,Madrid get £16 million , Souness gets to keep his job , Owen gets regular footy and we get shafted ,again . No ! , wait a minute ,we get to watch Crouch  .
