Stu reckons he's wasted in that position, but I dont agree and today showed that he still can track back and make those crunching tackles as well as being the link man between him and Keane/Babel.

As far as I'm concerned, Rafa doesn't get the credit he deserves at times. I've heard people today saying Chelsea were poor. Well yeah that night have something to do with how we played. I thought we were outstanding and I have to say that there is a resiliance and a togetherness about this side this season that is great to see. I've been critical of the defence recently but I thought Agger and Carra were absolutely outstanding. Alonso is getting back to his imperious best. Gerrard once again proved that he's in a completely different league to Lampard. Riera gets better and better. All in all it was a great performance.
Onwards and upwards.

To limit them to the odd half chance was the greatest achievement, but to actually play a bit, score the goal and then create a couple of other very good opportunities made it extra-special.
Tactically, Rafa got it spot on and for that he deserves immense credit. They rarely ever got in behind us because of our tactical discipline; we held our positions, we pressed them at the right times and in possession we were adventurous.
We defended deep, got men behind the ball, got Riera and Kuyt to tuck in when required and we posed them the questions, but they had little in reply (crosses from wide, shots from range and the odd run into the box which was dealt with). Agger and Carragher were absolutely rock solid, keeping their positions well, making crucial clearances and blocks. Arbeloa and Aurelio both did a tidy job, and sat in nicely, operating as whole unit effectively.
Alonso and Mascherano were imperious, whilst Gerrard was the fulcrum of our attack, but did essential defensive work too - especially second half.
The anticipated onslaught never arrived second half, and despite have less possession and territory, we created as many dangerous openings as they did. Our passing was very assured, whereas in the past it would break down more often and we'd get edgy.
It's the best all round team performance from us in a long, long time.
The only real weakness was perhaps Keane, he didn't make an impact, but it didn't matter in the end.
