CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL FA CUP SEMI - Can you smell the fear?

Have to say that Kewell was superb today - I just hope he's fit for the final, as today he's done a hell of a lot to get us there, and it'll be fantastic for him to turn out on a big occasion with all the fans behind him. His nightmare in Istanbul is long, long behind him. Man of the match for me, with huge credit to Alonso, whose passing was sublime today.

Today was also an example of why Benitez needs to get away from his tactic of hauling strikers off with 25 mins to go, particularly when the strikers on the bench are as hit and miss as Cisse and Morientes. Crouch hadn't had his best game, but he'd gamely chased the ball, made good interceptions, passed it around a bit and generally just made his presence felt. Once he went off, there was simply no-one up front for us that looked even remotely threatening to the Chelsea defence. We basically invited them to ignore our strikers and advance into our half.

Definitely don't want to dwell on the negatives right now though. We turned them over, we killed their double dreams, we stopped all talk of them having regained the psychological edge over us, and I just hope Mourinho chokes on his bullsh*t tonight. Go and moan to some f*cker who cares, you miserable permatanned c*nt. :D

Maureens lack of grace in defeat beggars belief . For 70 mins we were clearly the better team . All he can do is whinge about the ref being biased towards us . What a kunt

Any lingering shred of respect I may have held for his achievements in football have just gone out the window . The man is a complete Tart .

peewee is happy, although i did poop when cole blasted over from 5 yards out. there were some negatives but at the moment who really gives a flying f*ck about the negatives.

once again we have put them arrogant b@stards on their @rses in a semi final and to make it all the better the special one totally messed up his team selection, maureen just give up trying to out think rafa.

You got it right there mate, to say that Crouch would have preserved the team's shape more than any other strikers on our bench today. But Moro for all his lack of mobility did 'gamely' chase the ball. He got it off Makele twice and went in with a succession of sliding tackles.  :D

yes woof, agree 100%. so what if the decision went against them, it was a foul but they still had the chance to defend properley from the free kick which they failed to do. he would be better advised to concentrate why the wall left a gap big enough for maureens head to fit through

For the benefit of those who hadn't read this yet.

From Soccernet

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard refused to accept the biggest hurdle has been overcome after they secured their place in the FA Cup final with a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford.

John Arne Riise and Luis Garcia put the Reds 2-0 up and though goalkeeper Jose Reina left them sweating by gifting Didier Drogba a second-half goal, Rafael Benitez's side held firm.

They will meet Middlesbrough or West Ham in the May 13 final depending on the outcome of their semi-final tomorrow and Gerrard said after the match: 'We needed to stick together. We'd been under pressure for 20 minutes and we knew quite a few minutes of added time were going up.

'But the job is not done yet, we've got another massive game on May 13.

'We need to perform again like that and I'm sure we're going to lift the cup if we do,' Gerrard told BBC Interactive.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was understandably disappointed to have failed to win a double again and blamed slack finishing - and refereeing decisions by Graham Poll - for the defeat.

'In a semi-final you cannot miss chances like we did at crucial moments,' he told BBC Interactive.

'You cannot miss chances like the one for 1-0 and lose chances in the last minute for 2-2. That's the negative comment I have about my team.'

He continued: 'In the semi-final you cannot have every crucial decision against you. The free-kick for the first goal was a decision against us and the goal disallowed for (John) Terry is a decision against us.

'We cannot miss two crucial chances in two crucial moments against a very defensive team.

[B]'But we showed in the last half hour why we are (Premiership) champions and will be champions again and why in the Premiership in two seasons we have 45 more points than Liverpool.'[B]

-----------------------------------------------------------

That's the worst thing I have ever heard from any managers post-defeat. What's the point of linking league results (and that of last season's as well) while trying to explain your team's manner of defeat in a cup tournament? Just goes to show that Jose doesn't comprehend the dynamics of cup competitions.

"'But we showed in the last half hour why we are (Premiership) champions and will be champions again."

Well, I guess we showed in the first hour why we will always be better than you in the significant cup competitions!
