Well we gave it a huge shot and the truth is we just came up short. No shame in that, and FWIW in three weeks time I'll be hoping Drogba plays like he did tonight when they play Man Utd in the final.

I am curious to know why Torres came off, surely subbing kuyt for babel would have made more sense, having Torres around for the end of extra time would have been a plus, we played well, very sad to see we wont be in the final, but in hindsight, no one said we could score and Riise blew it, we where so close but just lacked that extra bit of quality, i wont mention what part of the field.

dude babel scored cant see what was wrong torres looked tierd towards end if any thing made the dif was pennent on for benny cos benny was great 2nd half.

I would have got babel on for kuyt earlyer 2nd half and later subed crouch for alonso since those 2 players didnt have there heads in the game for me.

We were against it from the start tonight, Skrtel going off, First goal for Chelsea
offside, but we got lucky with the offside from Essien and didn't get the decision for the Hyypia pen ref bottled it

Hope Chelsea win both Trophy's but don't see it happenin

bloody gutted, agree with some that Rafa got it wrong with the subs and a few just where not upto it.

all we can hope for now is that they go on and beat the mancs

At least our season lasted almost into May. At one stage it looked like it could be over by Christmas. We need 2 more top quality players for me. We just look a little short of quality at times.

drogba no doubt was fired up by what Rafa said. Torres may of been tired but I would rather have him on than kuyt.  Kuyt offered nothing.  Certain players need moving on and boy we need more quality.

I'm gutted.  I thought at 1-1 we was gonna win as chelsea looked beaten.  I'm disappointed with some of the selections and decisions in this game.  I dont see why pennant can come on for benayoun.  Pennant did nothing again as usual v a good side. 
The pen was a bad mistake.  Poor touch by Hyppia.  The torres sub is bizarre.  Why wasnt kuyt taken off as kuyt was rubbish.

we don't need u rubbing in what and who was subbed . Firstly did it occur to u that torres might be tired , did kuyt should show an inch of exhaustion , he ran and tracked back so many times , did the number on cashley a couple of times but agree, this was his worst game ever since being moved to a winger

Too many players didn't turn up tonight. Pennant when he came on was pathetic. Kuyt did nothing, Alonso and Mascher never got to grips in midfield. Benny apart from the run for Torres goal was poor. Not many had good games for us, Carra probably the pick of the bunch.

Rafa got his subs wrong - should have been Crouch or Babel not Pennant and why take Torres off ?

I actually think Saint we would have been better advised sticking with the same team which had served us so well over these last two months. Benayoun made me eat humble pie with his run, but in truth even switching him right didn't really give the team any balance. It was fairly clear from an early stage that he was going to have to make way at some point, and with Skyrtel picking up an injury that meant two of our subs were spoken for. I'm sure Rafa would like to have introduced Crouch at some point but unfortunately once benayoun and Skyrtel had come off, his options were severely limited.

Needless to say when Kuyt was moved into the central striker role he barely touched the ball and it made it hard for us to really get a foothold.

All in all though, we played against a good side who are just running into form at the right time and we ran them very close. But for the bounce of the ball here and there we could quite easily have gone through, and ultimately Riise faux pas at Anfield probably did for us. Without that, Torres's equaliser would have left them needing to score another two goals in normal time which would have been beyond them I think.

Anyway like I said earlier, despite everything I hope they beat the Mancs in the final.
