Benayoun has been awful. That was a depressing half.

I still believe. Remember Istanbul! :D

He has been no worse or better than anyone else, not one of our players has played well!

Always need a scapegoat on here!

People are picking on him because of him being picked in the squad from the begining. No it's not his fault he's playing but he isnt playing like a man whoose just beat an inform Pennant and a well adapting progressive Babel to that type of possistion.

Pennant plays on the right! :D

Cant play left side!

I know, i said 'to that type of possistion'. Winger-type in general. Babel can play on both sides i think. So he still beat them both for selection. Ahh well 2nd half will be starting anytime now, Nail biting time again.

Unfortunately I was right about the "surprising" selection and it's been a definate mistake so far. Benayoun really hasn't got into the game at all and added to the fact we've been forced into subbing Skyrtel, we now are in a bit of trouble visa vis 'options" and "possibilities" as taking the Israeli off should be a priority.

The goal was a poor one, probably offside for the original through ball but some poor defending by Arbeloa who for reasons best known to himself got sucked towards the ball which was a good twenty yards away from him and the bloke he was marking. Then i personally think Pepe has to save Drogba's effort near post. Harsh? Maybe, but on such "details" are encounters like this decided.

They've been much the better team so far, and we can probably count ourselves a tad fortunate we're still in it. I can't get my head around two central midfielders playing as out and out holders when they are playing one up front. Alonso is playing deeper than Masherano and clearly has been told so to do, and as a result of that and the total invisibility of Kuyt and Benayoun we are toothless going forward. Gerrard is being picked off in the "bermuda triangle" by Makeleli and it doesn't look good. Step one for me is bring Babel on for Benayoun, with the option of bringing Crouch on for Kuyt and laying Gerrard wide right. Ultimately though, we've given ourselves a bit of a mountain by playing so poor first half, but fortunately one goal changes everything.

Better?

Kuyt shoulda scored, more a reflex flick than a shot. Cech will be hard to beat today. Especially with a slippery ball.

I have to agree with Bigmick, they're being better so far :(. I agree everything but the Reina bit, he deflected the ball, no time to pick references, and that ball was wicked and hard, I don't think another keeper would have stopped that.

Still, this is Liverpool, and anything is possible. Come on the reds!
