Dont get this bit Baz.

If Essien is gonna man-mark Gerrard, there's not much Masch can do about it.

He will surely be put on Gerrard again mate but thats only part of his game. When Essien had the ball the other night he completed loads of passes and pulled the strings for them,he was great.Masch wont let that happen,he'll get into him. While Masch is kicking fu'ck outta that kunt(ball first of course) Stevie can get into space,Masch gets the ball and passes to Gerrard and Gerrard makes things happen!

I would'nt mind Drogba getting a groin strain in training as well like! :D

I dont think he'll make any changes mate,he's stuck with the same ways since he came!
Tell the feckers to make sure they get to the ball first and if Ivanovic jumps stuik yer elbow in his nuts!

Forget tactics, I just hope the lads are more fired up for it than they were last week. I'm sure they will be anyway given the anniversary ect...

I'd go with the same team we had last time but with Masch instead of Lucas of course  :;):

I do worry about Riera though, he tends to do really well against lower league teams but when it comes to Europe and the bigger teams he seems so out of his depth. I hope he proves me wrong though  :eyebrow Still prefer Riera over Babel any day.

As for the whole Essien thing.. did anybody notice that every time Gerrard was in the middle Essien would be right up his :censored: but when Gerrard whent to the wings he backed off a little...  I would maybe tell Gerrard to push out to the wings and let Alonso or Masch control the play in the middle a bit more.

The belief is still there for me. If Bolton can score 3 goals past them in 9 minutes we surely score 3 in 90.

Nando to score 2 and Kuyt scoring a last minute goal from a corner  :)

Reina
Arbeloa Hyppia Agger Aurelio
        Masherano Alonso
Kuyt        Gerrard      Babel
               Torres

Would be controversial but i've chosen them all for a reason.
Hyppia - Best player at corners.  Corners may be our best chance with Chelsea parking the bus.
Agger - Showed why yesterday, he can score a screamer if given the chance
Babel - Stronger at crossing than riera and a bigger goal threat.

Everyone else is to be expected.

Kind of like putting uphill, if the ball never reaches hole high, it was never going in. If we don't get at least three goals, there is no possible way we can win.  This is why I would advocate an all out attack, trying to make the game as open as possible. The three most realistic scorelines in which we go through are 3-0, 3-1 (advance in extra time or on penalties), or 4-2.  Clearly, not giving up a goal is MUCH lower on the priority list than getting at least three.

We need as many goal scoring weapons as possible.

I think this means we should play Hyypia and Agger in central defense, as they are miles ahead of Skrtel and Carra in terms of offering a goal scoring threat.

Winning 2-0  and loosing 5-1 are exactly the same in this match.

I think we should try and take Chelsea's tactics and use them to our advantage. If they want to man mark Gerrard with Essien all game, fine, we just need to adjust and take advantage.  I am not master tactician, but is not the natural response to send Gerrard on dummy runs across the centre into wide areas, trying to draw the attention of Essien and another defender and then have either Alonso or one of the wingers step up to fill the massive space just in front of the back four?

I don't think Babel is better at crossing than anybody on the team.

That might be a good combo at the back (Hyypia/Agger) but I think people still remember Drogba destroying Sami in that 4-1 years ago.

I'd go 4-4-2 meself.

Instead of putting a fiver on at 50-1, suggest 5 minutes in the local house of the lord might be more appropriate.

Sami Has to play this one our defensive disciplines were shot at anfield in first leg and hypia not only brings good defence but is an option up forward with headers from corners inter and arsenal games in cl big sammi was vital to get a score on the board early and put pressure on opposition

Yossi has to make a start too has to get through the tight defence scumsea will play shut up shop and yossi needs to break through the lines early and make scumsea pay with link up play to gerrard and torres

if things arent going well subs need to come on early none of this last minute stuff it just wont work

kalou was just as problematic for us as essien

we gave them to much space and they did as they pleased in their forward area..... stopping the ball from getting past midfield and keping attacking pressure on them is going to be key to making them wilt

our players didnt want to run with the ball to the length of the pitch to cross into the box and they gave possesion away too easily with silly medium and long balls

we can do it but scoring early is paramount and keeping defensive desciplines throught the whole game and not give scumsea the space and room they had in first leg will ensure we give this a real crack and have the last laugh

come on reds believe

Good post, but there's absolutely no way that Carragher will be dropped, even if it would make sense.
