Think I'd agree with that. For Alex's goal Pepe seemed so busy organising the defence that he had no time to settle himself before the kick was taken.

The Drogba "goal" was just a complete mare.

:(

Come on woof, are you serious mate?

No way can Reina be blamed for Alex's goal, it was a freak.  He's good at blasting free kicks, but never in his career will he catch one as sweet as that.  It wasn't right in the corner, but even if Reina got a hand to that it was still ending up in the net.

The first goal was Reina's fault for sure.  Bad mistake.  IMO it changed the game, because Chelseas got a second wind when that went in.  But hey, he's allowed one mistake a season.  Look at Cech - he made half a dozen mistakes in one game tonight.  Reina is second only to Casillas in world football right now imo - just a shame for him that they both play for the same national team.

Hold up John, I'm not having a go at Reina, I am saying that he was giving instructions left right and center and didn't seem to give himself time to "settle" for the the free kick. Maybe I'll have to watch it again mate, but looked to me like it wasn't in the corner, Pepe almost got a hand to it as it was, I'm thinking if he'd have been properly set Reina would have stopped that ball no matter how hard it was struck.

Fair enough mate.

Whether he was set or not though, it was a beast of a free kick and would have taken something very special to save it.  You're right though, it wasn't right in the corner.  Unbelievable pace though, and was bending away from Pepe.

You can't seriously blame the ref for this can you??

Yes he was a frustrating ref, but equally for both sides.  He let absolutely no contact go without a free kick.  Can you honestly say that the penalty was a clear penalty?  By the letter of the law it should be, but you have to be extremely lucky to have one of those given.

He was a poor ref but overall I don't think it benefitted either side, things evened out.

If the ref was equal for both sides I wouldnt be as frustrated.

yes we made mistake and yes some of them are down to Rafa but for once i would say we need to risk it and thats wht he did, going there to get 3 goals was always going to be hard and yes it will leave you open at the back, i the line up was strange but no can not say it did not work well in the first half.
well done lads

No complaints about rafa, the team he picked or there performance. I wanted a respectable result and got a massive performance instead. It may make me sound lame but I do really think the ref messed this one up for us. 29 fouls and just 2 yellow cards? how can you explain that? how can the ref explain that? and yet just 14 fouls for chelsea and they get 3 yellow cards. Fortunately, if chelsea play these tactics against barcelona they will not only meet there match in that department but be bettered.

I tnk the reff got it in the ear at half time over the pen, i think he felt that he owed them a few free kicks in sight of goal.

Well, dont know what to say. Superb performace on the last minutes, but not as much on the whole match. I missed Gerrard a lot, and Torres too. he did good, I dont agree on he was missing today. He didnt get the chance because he didnt get the ball inside or near the box. Liverpool was hesitating all the game. Bad defending, passing backwards,  too inaccurate passing and bad movements in forward positions, no wingers... I don't know how you scored those first 2 goals from nothing, Chelsea outperformed you everywhere in the pitch.
Rafa has no sense on getting Riera or Babel out of your team and what his point on getting  out mascherano? why not Lucas?. You need support by the forward miedfielders and attack on the sides, but with no wingers its a bit complicated.
Reina had a big mistake on 1-2 and looked :censored: off for the rest of the game. Anyway Im really disapointed about the match, your players were supposed to do better. Not just pride reaction on the last minutes. I really felt the Istambul spirit maybe im becoming a red hehe
Anyway congratulations, you have a to be proud of your team.

the ref performance was 'typical spanish', stop n go every 30 secs. average total time played per match: 50 min.  This is why 'La Liga' is pretty boring to watch.
Stop blaming Drogba, he is a beast and its amazing to see his CL performances. What a player!

Well lads, lets focus on the title race! :;):

the pen we won was stone wall ivanovic had xabi in a headlock for the penalty the ref gave free kicks left right and centre the only difference was our players were fouled and chelsea players were diving to the floor like they had been shot
believe me im not the type to look for excuses if were outplayed fair enough but the ref was a joke tonight and chelsea won alot more undeserved free kicks then us nobody that watched the game can doubt that and a few of them were very costly

now i'm not a fan because i think Rafa was wrong ? what a joke.

People here are blaming the Ref blaming the keeper blaming the flopper - those are all acceptable during a game - i'm talking about decisions by our coach which he took before the game and during the half time - his approach was wrong he prooved me right when he took Torres out and Took Mas out - he didn't believe - our lads did - they did their best he didn't.

Now shoot me.
