We have to go to and win at Stamford Bridge, Old Sh*tford and Highbury. VERY unlikely.

People seem to forget that our game-in-hand is against Arsenal. I am not confident about winning all these games.

Lando, we should be able to beat Arsenal at Anfield. There's no reason for us not to. They have a sh1t record on the road, they have huge problems at the back and they've missed Vieira's pressence in midfield.

However the game at Highburry is another story.

I don't think there's any chance of us or anybody else catching Chelsea this season unfortunately.

9 points or so ahead of us at this stage of the season is a bigger gap than it sounds.  That's 3 wins we need to make up.  To be honest I don't think Chelsea will lose more than about 1 more game in the league so it would be very hard to catch up.  Also take into account their squad depth compared to ours and the fact we have to go to the WCC just when we've finally got our league form sorted.

If anything Chelsea will get more points than us over the second half of the season rather than us closing the gap.  However 2nd is a real possibility for us and would be great progress.  Next season with a few additions to the squad I think we'll push Chelsea all the way.

Unfortunately not this year!!
But we are moving in the right direction to becoming a realistic challenge. We should forget about Chelsea for now and aim for second which would be a great achievment in itself!
We have a better manager and are a better club but the one thing we dont have is their money and thats what sets them apart, like it or not they can and will buy who they want!
All we can do is wait as it wont last forever, footballs not like that!

to even think about catching chelsea you would need to have the european champions chasing them and be in top form like say winning alot of games on the bounce without even conceding a goal.....hey, wait a minuite....feck! hell yes, we can do it!!

Catching chelsea will be difficult. They are a strong team and will only loose a couple more this season. I think winning the CL will be easier than winning the premier league. Why? Because in england only a few select teams will be able to draw or win against chelsea.  In CL there are about 10 teams capable of beating them. Milan, Barca, Juve, Bayern, Man U, Liverpool, Lyon, Real, Inter.......

I don't want chelsea to win anything this year or in the years that come. I don't like their ways, and I don't think they are a genuine football team. I am not saying this because I'm angry or anything. I just think football should have passion. Chelsea may have money, but they will never have passion. If they score 1 goal they bore me, if they score 5 they bore me. It's so mechanical, so stripped of passion and heart. Football should be not be about greedy players and agents and multibillionaires buying league trophies for personal satisfaction.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

I think it'd be interesting to see how Chelsea fare without Lampard and Terry in the side in the Prem. If those two missed a few matches, I can see problems for them.

How many squad players will Chelsea lose in the African nations cup....? ????
Although it would be absolutely wonderful if we won the title this year, can people please relax abit and take one game at a time.It was only a few weeks back we couldnt win or see where the next goal was coming from.If we acheive top 3 this season that is a massive improvement and a great launching pad to lauch a title bid next season.

I agree with Phil, people are getting ahead of themselves. The more people do that the more they will complain when things don't turn out like they thought they would.

chelsea are miles ahead of anything else in this league. everybody else is playing for second place and if you ask me it's up for grabs. arsenal are garbage away from home and manure are hardly pulling down any trees at the moment either.

i couldn't believe it the other week when i heard maureen whinging about the injuries that chelsea had for their game against pompey. i mean give me a f#cking break. they must be in dire straits musn't they? maybe he can go to his chairman and ask for a little bit more cash

tuesday is payback time. :nod

We haven't a hope of catching them.

4 or 5 weeks ago people were calling for Rafa's head, now people are asking whether we can catch Chelsea? ???

In order to catch Chelsea we need to maintain our current form and Chelsea to go through a disasterous spell. Neither will happen.

Exactly right JBG. Wishful thinking from some people, and they aren't being realistic. Benitez always says that he's thinking about the next game, which is what we should do rather than thinking about what the table will look like at the end of the season.

There's 24 games to be played, anything can happen in that time.
